starting problem : V

ok so i click on steam, and click play, the box comes up
play
options
data
etc
i click play and nothing... nothing loads, nothing happens, what the hell has happened now?!

Haven't seen anything like that. Are you just starting the game for the first time ever, or just for the first time since installing the patch?

it was ok say, 4 hours ago i left computer on so i guess its been updated, and now, it just wont start, the "play" link doesnt work.

I have almost the same problem... i click play, then it appears the Betehsda Logo, then the game crashes...

I've got a similar thing. I was just about to play 15 minutes ago (for the first time today), and now when I press 'Play', it comes up with the 'Do you want this program to make changes to this computer' message. If I click yes or no, nothing happens, it just returns to the Play, Options, Data Files box. Could it be the Patch?

ok solution is, go to library in steam.. right click skyrim - properties- local files - verify integrity... should work apparently

Well... it seems that the Crash problem is solved... BUT, you know when you are in the starting screen ? the menu ? Where it have the Dragon logo, and the smoke.... It should appear this:
Continue
New
Load
Credits
Exit

But nothing appears..... it is showing just the Dragon thingy and the smoke...

You have some crafting mod turned on, it's breaking the menu. Check the PC support forums.

Yes...
I have this mods on:

- FXAA Post Process Injector

- Fast Horses

- Wear more than 1 ring

- Arrowsmithing

- Smelt weapons into Ingots

- Get all the arrows back from the body you killed

- Enchanted Night

- Skyrim Sunglare

- Snow texture replacer

- Rich merchants (merchants have 2000 gold)

The New, Continue, Load icons don't appear.

Where does it say what version you have? I went to the main menue and it doesn't say v1.2 or anything for that matter.
