actually if you own windows 7, not sure of vista, 32bit and x64 version are shipped together. you won't waste you money on another x64 version.
If your os is preinstalled, you can contact the custom service to get a free x64 copy.

Thanks for the quick answer. My computer was a gift so everything was setup for me already. (Wanted it just to play games) So why would it be set for 32bit if it was capable of 64bit?

all modern PC cpus are x64 capable. however there's no reason to install x64 on a pc with less than 4g memory. x64 consumes more harddisk space, more ram space because it maintains 2 versions of runtime to be capable of running both 32bit and 64bit executable.

I am just curious, aren't there compatibility issues with 64 bit OS?
Having much more memory for system can't be bad thing at all but doesn't 64 bit OS still has some compatibility issues with quite a few games still?

and I am using other games also, so I am just curious.

A couple years ago 64-bit had compatibility issues with some games and hardware but they've more or less been resolved now.

There are LOTS of incompatibilities with 64 bit so just make sure the programs you want to use will be compatible. And if you want to play old classics like Doom then... you'll have to forget it
