ITT, everyone is an expert programmer.
Seriously, the amount of clueless crybabies is staggering. This was an emergency patch. It mostly fixes things which affect a great number of players, and either prevents them from playing the game altogether or is a problem that manifests often. Quest bugs don't affect the whole game like the mouse sensitivity and keymapping bugs, and the PS3 lag; they only affect that particular quest. The reason the patch is out so soon is exactly because they focused exclusively on the most pressing issues.
And if you think in 2011 software should be less bug-prone, you're an idiot. Software complexity is escalating at an alarming rate; games these days have multiple millions of lines of code, orders of magnitude larger than games in the 80s. Programming languages and paradigms as well as debugging tools are developed to combat this complexity, but it's an uphill struggle. It's a miracle that Skyrim is as stable and bug-free as it is. If you all weren't such spoiled little brats you'd be a bit more respectful of what they have achieved and wait for a major patch which is undoubtedly in the works.
