Wards are epic.

Ever cast one in an attempt to block Dragon breath?

It works for me, haven't seen it in third person yet but it just looks and feels epic.

I have a character who uses a ward spell like a shield and wields a bound sword or fireball in the other hand. Works out nicely.

Too bad that it doesn't affect physical damage.

It gives an added armor bonus.

Yeah they are pretty good but cost a lot of Magicka to keep up. I think they need time to charge up too so timing becomes important when using them. I've found them most useful against other magi though. I usually stay out of range of dragon breath and send in the tanks while I blast at it from afar.

my assumption would be thats why they came up with it in the first place cause all the other magic attacks you can dodge easily

Every single time I've tried to use a ward, I just get staggered.

Odd, I play on Master and the only thing that staggers me are dragon priest.

Every single time I've tried to use a ward, I just get staggered.

Yeah they are cool. I'm suprised they did not find their way into the series sooner.

I always wanted a literal reflect spell shield. Not like oblivion, but one that actually bounces the fireball back or charges and shoots (Think mirror shield from zelda)

Without related perks yeah, but I figure as that guy said, it would be great with a conjuration weapon.

That and enchantments.

Super mana drain though.

magicka drain makes it hardly worth it imo, anything you have time to charge a ward up for could be dodged easily (and chargeing it before you see an attack coming is out of the question imo because of the drain magicka)

Once you get high level enough that all enemy mages and bandits(!) have at least fireball staffs; wards become useless with you being staggered continuously.

If you use wards a lot I recommend the right perks (absorb!!!) and some cost reducing clothing

i love the idea, but i have over 450 mana and i still find it drains too fast. I grinded to level 60 restoration too using fast healing and equilibrium, just so i could get the ward absorb perk, which doesn't seem to do much at all... Is it working for anyone else??
