Ebony Blade - how does it improve?

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 12:12 pm

Anyone know exactly how the ebony blade improves? I know that you have to kill people that are friendly to you and all, but even after I have heard Mephala say that it has returned to its former glory, I have noticed no difference in its stats or anything.

It's a badass katana either way.

I'm having problems improving it at all. I attacked that guy I did the golden claw quest for, but he calls it an assault anyway, then I have to kill him, Camille or whatever, and all the guards that run in. Then once all the witnesses are dead, everyone in Riverwood is trying to kill me anyway.

Am I doing something wrong?

So I killed everyone in Riverwood, about half of Whiterun, then invaded Whiterun with the Stormcloaks. Problem solved? I head Mephala's sixy voice twice, how many times does it power up?

Sven mysteriously died and I found his body on the shore, I didn't get to betray him  But how do betrayals work, and how do you attack them without them being mad at you?

You have to kill followers, not just random NPCs. I've read that the Dark Brotherhood initiate respawns so I'll probably just keep killing him over and over to power the sword when I get it.

I thought it could be people you do quests for (like Sven), looks like I missed out. So every time she talks does that mean it powered up?
Thanks, I'll try that DB guy right now

btw, none of the people I killed were actually followers. I tried on Lydia but nothing happened so I just reloaded.

Edit: Tried to have that DB Initiate follow me out, but she doesn't die. And I thought they weren't supposed to fight back when hit with the ebony blade?
