Black Texture Issue

Hello,
I'm not sure if this should be here or in the Construction Set (Oblivion) forum, so sorry if it is in the wrong place.

I am trying to replace a texture on a helmet model that I downloaded. Using NifSkope, I have exported the Texture Template and made my own texture, saved it as a .dds, etc. I can change the texture path on the model in NifSkope and it looks good. I put the helmet in the game using the Construction Set and run Oblivion. Now, when I put on the helmet, it appears black. It isn't pink (which is what happens when a texture is missing) and it isn't invisable or a yellow diamond (which is what happens when a mesh is missing). It still has the correct shape of the helmet, it is just pitch black.

Does anyone know why this is happening and, if so, could they please tell me how to fix it.

Missing normal maps I believe...

This can also occur if you forgot to generate mipmaps for the texture.

Oh, maybe it was mipmaps, but I thought that could be resolved by setting the Textures setting to Large; else, the textures would be choppy or blurry or something. I guess I have to add that to the list...
