Devil's Advocate; Bethesda is watching.

I decided to browse Bethesda's blog and found Gstaff responding to questions concerning what they are doing for specific issues. Here are links.

1. Graphical glitches such as Archmages Robe and Dragon Priest Mask causes head to disappear; http://www.bethblog.com/index.php/2011/11/30/skyrim-1-2-update/comment-page-16/#comments

2. Bookshelf errors such as not being able to remove books from shelves; http://www.bethblog.com/index.php/2011/11/30/skyrim-1-2-update/comment-page-16/#comments - further down the page.

3. Gstaff states that they are working on new updates already. Response was given yesterday; http://www.bethblog.com/index.php/2011/11/30/skyrim-1-2-update/comment-page-15/#comments

Perhaps Bethesda is just not using the forums to actively respond to people having problems. They seem to use the blog more often and Gstaff is the one that responds. I havent seen a response from anyone else.

Even more so, Im thinking that Bethesda implimented fixes that were not reported in the patch notes. None of the fixes that they mentioned in the patch notes give any indication whatsoever that it would affect damage resistance modifiers as well as scripts that cause dragons to fly backwards.

Just throwing it out there and Im a guy that is pissed off at them. I just didnt think it made sense for a company that is so big and popular to be so thick-headed and oblivious. That is, unless its so damn off-base that none of this matters.

It's because most people aren't aware of the forums for games, because much of the time, any press materials will link to the main site, where official news updates get posted. Basically, their blog and news sections are the "official" platforms for where you'll get details about updates and game changes. That's generally the same for many game companies, and pretty much any other industry that isn't a pure marketing brand.

The problem is after a while, forum people forget what a main page for a site is, and get all their game-related news from the forums, themselves.

As for the rest: Learn programming, and you'll better understand just how daunting of a cluster[censored] it can be fixing a line of code or a badly executed script amongst thousands of lines of code for a game this massive.

With five lines of code to work with, if you screw that up, there's still Fry Manager at McDonald's.

With 50,000 lines of code to work with, coffee isn't a beverage, it's lifeblood.

As long as they fix the memory leak for the PS3 i'm happy :D, honestly that Is the only thing that is killing the fun, I have only encountered one bug since release date, and that was the Markarth guard bug.

I imagine when news of the resistance glitch reached the top of the food chain, the words "fix it!" was sent down the chain. This patch has been something of a PR fiasco, but it will be fixed and everyone will go back to complaining about game balance.

well they DID say they will be reading the boards for bugs and whatnot. I think the best place to put these bugs are in the hardware problem section. They SHOULD just make a suggestions/bugs forum because bugs aren't hardware issues normally.
