Recharger rifle?

I've already slaughtered the Van Graffs so that's not a place to find. Do they appear at previous vendors? I need one for the darn deathclaw challenge.

It doesn't really matter that you killed all of them because there's a Recharger Rifle sitting on one of the shelves to your left as soon as you walk in.

I <3 that weapon. It served my EWeaps character extremely well for a very long time. Wish it had upgrades.

It's also arguably one of the best weapons flat out for hardcoe mode.

there is one on the counter of the van graff store.

If you have caps go to Novac and buy the MF Hyperbreeder Alpha from Briscoe. Its an automatic recharger pistol that owns everyone

You can find dead Bright Followers carrying them outside the Test Site or in other random locations
Spoiler

Many robed corpses of Bright followers can be found strewn across the Mojave Wasteland, such as at Primm Pass, east of Primm, and the Coyote Den, north of Nipton. There is also one west of Wolfhorn ranch, next to a couple of legion raiders, waiting to attack a nearby caravan. (Caravan only appears if heading to Novac for the first time.) These bodies appear from the beginning of the game, implying that these Bright followers died prior to their "Great Journey". The dead followers tend to be well armed, especially the ones found within the REPCONN Test Site, who often carry Plasma Defenders, a very rare weapon elsewhere.

How is that even possible when the machine runs on a recharger cell?

im playing on the PS3 console using the "exploits" section of the Wiki (ammo glitch).
while this glitch works and is pretty interesting to say the least, its not 100% reliable and stable.
whatever "special" ammo you assign to the RR is used up every time you fire, but it will still appear unlimited after you fire more rounds of it than you actually have, until one or more of these conditions are met:
1) you load a save
2) you let the amount of shots on the RR that are left drop below 1 without a chance for the rifle to charge back up to full
3) you switch weapons after firing more rounds of the special ammo then you *actually* have (hot key becomes empty)
in this case, simply purchase more special ammo and hot key it again
this works with MF hyper breeder and the recharger pistol but i find the rifle is best.
energy weapons skill is in effect even when using special ammo, its like having a laser rifle with an explosive charge at the end of the beam (50MG explosive ammo)
this does not work very well at far distances (explosive rounds have no effect)
lol, for goodness sake, dont fire a tiny tot or other special mini-nuke from this thing, had me laughing hysterically after i *thought* it would fire like a missile. - lol
