How do you beat the computer virus?

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 6:58 am

In Hidden Valley.

Passed the science check and after trying umpteen times I can't ever find the virus on three machines. Only once or twice have I actually found it. Getting sick of this crap and want to just beat it or cheat it.

Is there a console command to make it go away?

Otherwise, any guidance on beating the thing?

Thanks.

if your science skill is high enough, 75?, you can trap one of the virus. i manage to trap two of them but got bored trying to trap the third one. don't bother unless your science skill is high enough.

I have done it twice, and both times I did it on the first go.

So I must be doing something different to you guys.

I talk to the scribe, line up at a computer, and when he says 'go' I go on it and if it is a message left for you by the virus' maker, I lock it down. If it is the virus or not, I hen get out of the computer and go to the next one in a clockwise or anticlockwise direction.

When all three have been locked down, I talk to the scribe.

If you do not get it on the first try, the virus is reset, and could be on any of the computers that you just checked.

Hope this helped.

I'll give the clockwise thing a try. I never really could figure out the order you were supposed to do them in, how he said that they could lock them down in a certain section or something.

Sure anyone doesn't know the command to beat this...? Rather just be done with it now.

It's pretty easy. You just need to be quick, efficient, and lucky. The first time I did it took me 9 tries, the next was 3.

OK, just did “it”

Straight across from the scribe (scribe to the left) are two terminals in-a-row that you have to lock down

Straight across (I think) the room from the the 2nd terminal referenced above will be the third

If you can find the two adjacent terminals, you can save and keep trying in order to find the third. Reload and keep trying until you find the third. Then go back and “hit the sequence”.

BTW, is it just me, or is Scribe Ibsen just a few shakes short?

The places are random, so they will probably not be in the specified areas.

What I typically do is run around the outer ones, and I tap the action button at the maximum distance you can be from the terminal. Then when all those are out of the way, you can get the last four in the middle. It just takes some time for you to remember where the hall ways are so you avoid them.

So it's never off in the hallways?

all you have to do is have a high science to get the option to trap the virus, then all you do is run around activating the machines to run the scan and trap a part if you find it. If you run out of time the part you trapped previously are still trapped. Other then that you just have to move fast and be lucky.

There aren't any console commands to finish the quest, but http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Hidden_Valley_computer_virus mentions a few mod options that can help. Unfortunately, this isn't a marked quest, so there aren't any stages to bypass.
