(Help?) Purple... Purple and white... Confusion.

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 3:44 pm

Everything in my game is purple (In-game, not menu/title screen), but my cursor, menus, and other boxes (such as load screens!) are white. When I mean everything in my game is purple, I'm not joking for one moment. There are no oranges, or yellow exclamation points, it's ALL purple. I got a mod that did this, not sure what one because I was doing it in batches of 15-20 mods at once. I was up to 85 mods or so when it occurred. I've reinstalled about 4 times now I think. I have even deleted my Oblivion folder at C:\Program Files\Oblivion <--- deleted it. My backup didn't work either, so I deleted that too. Because everything is gone, I sorta can't tell you my load order. I also don't have a load order because no mods, yet everything is still purple!... It's really kind of sad. I don't know if there are other files I need to delete after uninstalling or anything along those lines. I just know I did what I could, and started fresh. Purple is getting on my nerves, don't think it is my favorite color anymore either.

:D! Thanks for the assistance!

If you are using Windows 7 or Vista, You want to install Oblivion into a user created folder on your hard drive, like C:Games to avoid UAC. Purple usually means textures are missing, but every texture is a new one (at least this is the first time I have heard of everything becoming purple). I hope you can get this sorted out.
Have you tried deleting the file named Oblivion in Documents\My Games\Oblivion? This might fix it, but this is a guess.

*Bows down the the almighty god* Worked :D! Thank you! It worked. Also (not sure why I'm telling you this) I never install things in a user created folder, always in C:. I'm the only person that uses my computer, and I do everything on a default user. The reasoning behind this is because (I'm on vista I should say) nothing really does anything to my system, besides my system without me giving the ok :D! It works great really. Thanks for the help again though!

Have you had a read through the FAQ http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/449239-oblivion-mods-faq/

Do you use OBMM and have you ever been told to use BSA Alteration - If so that is a probable reason for purple textures (especially if you are installing and un-installing en-masse rather than following the procedure as detailled in OBMM documentation when using that method of archive invalidation)

BSA Redirection is the best one.

I've got no idea what BSA Alteration is, so I don't use it :D! I use BSA Commander for BSA Redirection I would assume, but the thing was I deleted all my mods. They were all gone, (I realized they didn't just go poof after 3rd instillation) yet I still had purple textures... er purple everything. Deleting the Oblivion folder in \My Games worked just fine though.
