TES4LODGen.exe not working.

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 11:31 am

I have been trying to use TES4LODGen.exe 2.2.2 but it seems to stop working and then I get the "not responding" message.

I close the exe window and check but no LOD folder is created in my Data folder, and naturally buildings pop into view in the game (the part of all this I really I hate).

The last line in the TES4LODGen.exe 2.2.2 EXE window is that is is loading the unoffical patch GRUP....

So then I already tired a few things:

Switched to experimental version, 3.0.15.

Patched it to work with more than 2 gigs per the 4gb_patch.exe

Set it to run in XP compatibility mode

Move the EXE to my Oblivion folder

Removed the unoffical oblivion patch mod from my load.

Let it sit "working" for 2 hours.

I am using windows 7 but Oblivion (well actually almost ALL my game related programs) is not installed in the UAC.

All I can suggest is disabling your mods the same way you would to isolate a problem mod when you're unsure which it is. Run TES4LODGen after you've disabled half, if that doesn't help, then try the other half, etc. I don't know if a screwy mod would cause it to stop working like that without any message but it's worth a shot, unless someone else knows about the circumstances that would cause an issue like this.

The program has to be run from the root Oblivion directory. Have you tried running it as an administrator? Also, check if Windows is blocking the program because it came from another computer by checking the files properties. The check box in question will be on the bottom of the first tab. You could also try using the latest experimental version, 3.0.15.

HA!!!!! yes removing all mods allowed the program to work!

So I have a "bad" mod in my load ...a very bad mod....now I need to to find out which one is going to be sent to the corn filed.

Edit: OMG! Oblivion is so much better with this LODGen program! I have not actually played in so long (I am moding 90% of the time) I had forgotten how necessary this program is. I am sure glad it finlay worked.

Sorry I did not find out. I realized that it did not matter which one it was because the vanilla LOD was all I needed.

I only run 2 or 3 (non vanilla) mods at all that would have any LOD involved so it was not worth the trouble.

Please let us know the mod so we can avoid/fix it.

Glad you got it going.
