Thankful for 1.2 update on PS3

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 11:55 pm

I have put in 90+ hours with Skyrim on my PS3. I was suffering from the FPS dropping to barely crawling speeds, dragon could not being absorbed, dead body spawning at the time for the wedding, etc. The night that I saw that the patch was available I was happy to see it and downloaded it. I wasnt able to put in any time after the update was installed. The next day most sites were filled with people complaining that the issues were not fixed, and in fact worse now from installing 1.2. I went home that night disappointed because I do love this game. I knew that uninstalling the patch wouldnt do any good as I would be riding on the originally shipped code. So I started up Skyrim with my eyes set for any and all glitches that have been reported. I put in 3-4 hours that evening and was surprised to see that all previously stated issues were gone, and after encountering a couple dragons, mages, and finishing a few quests I was sold on 1.2. I realize I might be one of a handful of people that the 1.2 patch hasnt impacted negatively and for that I am thankful. But all the previous issues still didnt keep me from putting 80+ hours on this game nor finishing any of the other fallout / elder scrolls games.

Do your restistances and weaknesses work though?

A simple way to test this:
Summon a fire atronarch. Attack it with a fire spell.

If the immunity message does not pop up, its broken.

His game was broken before, unplayable. Now he can finally play it to where its enjoyable to him.

He is just happy that he can kill flame-creatures with flames now... and ice creatures with ice...

But will be dissapointed when he finds-out his well earned money on resistance to fire does nothing against fire...

I dont have that skill as I am primarily a warrior type character. I can try this tonight and post the results.

Yeah my lagging issues are way down too. Still have some once my file gets to 10+ MB, or I enter a major city, but nowhere as bad as what I had before. As to resistances, I hadn't really noticed - I still seem to do better against frost with my 50% frost resist boots. But as far as I'm concerned, playability is king after enjoyability. Then again, I have Atronach stone on my main guy so I might not notice anyway.

What you are describing with resistance is a serious, grevious, glitch, but not a genuine gamebreaker.

I for one have been one of the lucky few that ha snot had too many issues. I put in 80 plus hours of gameplay prior to the patch and 20 since 1.2 has been released. ( the newest patch). I used to have a little lag here and there when entering a city for example and even more when fighting a dragon. The other night I was attacked by 2 dragons at one in falkrearth(sp?). Even when there were 2 dragons going at it, not to mention every NPC in the town and me going legolas on them with my bow, I had ZERO lag and that was after I was playing for 5 hours straight. save file size it 9mb or around it.

Also before the new patch I would be getting horrible texture pops and it would take a while for textured clothing on certain NPC's to load. Now thats gone aswell.

AI has been great, not a single problem on that front.

Before the new patch whenever a thief would be killed in Riften thier bodies would lie there forever, once the new patch was installed all thier bodies were gone. Riften now does not look like a battlefield.

Those are my positives.

Negatives....................

- I had a dragon fly though a mountain

- When using this blades katana ( baros i think its called, not sure) and while having it equipted and walking thorugh water the sreen tears around the edge of that sword only while using it in my left hand. Its just a blue outline about 2 inches think all around the hilt.

Thats all.

Agreed.

I'm a PS3 player and had 60hrs pre 1.2 patch with some very minor hickups. I've put in 10hrs now since the update and have had zero issues.
