Oblivion will not start

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 6:26 pm

This morning I finally finished downloading and installing mods. I played and everything was error free.

I turned my pc off and when I turned it back on a few minutes ago to play, oblivion will not start. Everytime I click play on the launcher no Oblivion application starts in the task manager, but one Oblivion*32.exe process does begin. Repeatedly trying to click play results in several .exe processes, but no application and no game.

I changed nothing from this morning to now, I only restarted my computer.

Sigh and I thought things were gonna work this time around :nope:

Are you running Window 7 or Windows Vista? If so, make sure you install the game outside of the default folder, for example, to C:\Games. The UAC could cause this sort of problem. Does this issue persist with all mods turned off? You may also want to try to clean boot Windows? Are you sure you didn't have any Windows Updates?

Yes good sir. I got GOTY from steam, and I installed steam outside program files, so the destination is like C:\steam\steamapps\common\oblivion

Thing is I think while the .exe is running in the background, it's not frozen but is actually loading all the esps. I think this because after clicking play in the launcher and nothing happening, I just started browsing the net, and like half an hour later the "Bethesda" logo appeared out of nowhere and I could play, all mods enabled...

But I mean I only have like 100 mods or so, isn't 255 the max? I have a decent PC too...

Yeah, that's not your problem. Have you tried a clean boot though? Maybe another process is interfering? You might as well post your load order (via Wrye Bash) and mention and OBSE plugins you are running through.
