Weather Inside mod not working for me

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 2:54 pm

Greetings.

Several months ago I decided I wanted to hear weather sounds 'indoors'. After searching Nexus I settled on the rather ancient http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5095 as having the best chance of being compatible with my current load-order. Only, it apparently isn't. It doesn't cause stable issues or performance drops. On the other hand, it doesn't do anything else either, not that I can tell (hear).

My load-order appears below. As you can see, I have few other sound-altering mods. The main one is Oblivifall Ambient Dungeons, which claims compatibility with all other sound mods. I also run the tiny Distant Chapel Bells, but can't see that being at fault.

I should point out that I use the alternate 'silent seasons" version of the esp (cleaned with TES4edit), since that was designed for those like myself who play sans music.

Does anyone know what my issue might be, or a newer and potentially better indoor weather-sound mod? (Seems to me I recall Weather: All Natural offering this function (????), but reluctantly rule out All Natural due to its documentation recommending against use with the mod I consider the very foundation of my Oblivion installation.)

Thanks in advance!

Never used that so not much help regarding it, but why don't you switch to All Natural? Synchronized weather, appropriate indoor sounds/lighting, makes it possible to use Immersive Interiors etc.

Yes, All Natural does offer the same sort of thing. All of the interior weathers are set up with sound to accompany them.

Am curious though, which mod are we recommending not using that you consider your foundation?

Maybe there is some misunderstanding because I don't see any weather mods in the load order and aren't those the only mods the AN readme recommends against using?

All Natural is like the very foundation of my Oblivion installation lololol

I did not originally name the mod in question since it is not always politic to do so. Not here in any case. But here goes. The mod I refer to The Elder Council. Yes, that one. The two are not incompatible, as All Natural documentation clearly states. But, they apparently make visual changes to the Imperial Palace that don't "work" in harmony, if you take my meaning. So as much as I think Weather: All Natural (and Immersive Interiors) would be a marvelous addition to my load-order, I must regretfully pass.

I've actually never heard of that mod, or never investigated it. Is it controversial because of ~lore issues~ or something? Crazy drama go down !?!?

@ palidoo: Crazy drama. I'd suggest you PM someone for the details, open discussion isn't done.

Since you can't use AN, have you tried Storms & Sounds? Later versions included a Weather Inside feature IIRC.

Controversial because of the mod maker. at one point on these forms the very mention of his name could start a flame war.

Aye, these gentlemen have the right of it. If you want to, PM me for why I enjoy the mod so much, though you can get the gist of it by reading my many posts in the General Discussion forum.

I actually read up on Storms & Sounds quite some time ago. Ruled it out back then. Can't recall why. Seems like there was some potential stability issue, or an unacceptable performance drop, or incompatibility with something else I ran or planned to run. Whatever the reason I've ignored it since. I'll visit its Nexus page this evening for a reevaluation, assuming no one replies with solid insights about Weather Inside (or other alternatives).

Thanks for the input!

What happens if running All Natural and The Elder Council together? Do you get lighting as if it would be the vanilla interiors?
