Did i just beat the main questline of the game?

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 5:00 am

So i just kicked that Dragon's ass with the other 3 NPC's... And I got transported back to the Throat of the World... and no other quests popped up. Is that it?

You should've posted this in the spoilers forum, not the general section.

Good job!

Yes, that is it.

Not a very exciting ending was it?

Yay for spoilers! I was intentionally avoiding the main quest, thanks for the heads up on the ending though! :tops:

Thanks for posting "I just killed Alduin!" on the General Discussion. There's a spoiler forum.
Anyways, that's it. No more main quest. No more chasing Alduin. No more learning new shouts from Graybeards.

Not sure how Alduin is a spoiler... you know about him from the very start of the game where you see him on the loading screen and then he attacks you. Anyway, I agree that the story is pretty anticlimactic, but Bethesda games have never had the most exciting endings.

Yup, that's it. So compares to Oblivion's Major quest lines, doesn't it.... the feeling of having been epic and having saved the world... yeah.

Spoiler
It's entirely unfulfilling isn't it! It's too short, they should have placed more of the dragon battles in the main quest line and added a few more quests sending you around the place...

Yep. But there's still the Civil War questline, and all of the hundreds of side quests.

Yes it was rather short and I could easily complete in like 4hrs like those other guys who beat in 2hrs.

How the hell is anything in my title a spoiler, if anyone hasn't played the game then inferring you kill someone named Alduin in the game is useless to them since it's common sense you're going to be killing SOMEONE in the game, and if you ARE already playing the game, well... What do you think you get to do to Alduin in the game, have TEA with him or something? As soon as you learn of him, you know you have to kill him eventually unless you are dense. For god's sake lighten up and grow some common sense.

Knowing about Alduin isn't the spoiler.

Knowing about how the quest and game ends is.

Kind of, ah...spoils the ending.

Yeah it just doesn't feel like anything's happened. I mean, at least in Morrowind Reed Mountain cleared and in Oblivion the gates stopped spawning.

> Defeat Alduin to rid the world of the evil Dragons!
> Dragons are still there. Problem?

Don't get me wrong, I like that the dragons didn't stop spawning.. It just seems extremely anticlimatic. Nothing happens. I just felt like I was fighting a normal Dragon that drops a few boulders on me.

No, not in the title, all you did was state how the main story will end. But if you don't consider that a spoiler then I don't know how to explain to you what everyone is talking about.

yeah not very epic feeling at all. I mean i literally killed Alduin in 4 swipes of my 2 hander. Very very "meh". O well. I have a load of other quests i can get to, I didnt touch the Dark Brotherhood or Thieves guild line, but I think it's time to pack away Skyrim after playing for 2 weeks straight and come back and lay an evil stealth mage some time down the line, maybe when the first expansion hits and there's a load of new player content, it will feel like a new release all over again.

Spoiler
Because he points out that it's end of the main questline and is wondering if how it ends is all that really happens. People can probably figure they have to kill the big, bad dragon, but not everyone is yet aware of what FOLLOWS AFTER BEATING THE DRAGON

So knowing that nothing happens is a spoiler? Bah that seems a little cheesy. If some glorious event happened I would understand your argument.

Yeah seems more apt to have a /disappointment tag than a /spoiler tag for that.

...but it has been known for over a year now that the main quest in Skyrim was going to be the dragonborn battling Alduin, the world eater. When you heard this over a year ago, what exactly did you think was going to happen? Didn't you figure out back then that the end of the main quest was going to be you killing the dragon?
