Destruction has to be scaling for me...

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 1:10 am

I've been using fire bolt with the first augmented flames for the past...5-10 levels and I could swear that I'm doing more and more damage to Draugrs. "I'm out hunting for marked for death shouts".

Edit: Or is there a point where it STOPS scaling? In which case, my mistake.

You can open your magic menu and look at the amount of damage a spell does. Or are you trolling? If so 7/10 I almost fell for it.

If you want to find the Marked for Death shout try the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary

Yeah, the magic interface...What if its bugged and not telling me the correct damage?

Though that is a stretch, it seems like my same ol' attack is doing more damage.

There are perks that increase damage but that is the only way to increase damage and you can only increase it 50%. One of the big issues is that I love the flames spell. I'd like to use it at level 34 but since it does such minuscule damage, I can't use it. This causes a lack of variety,

Actually there is a bug with the illusion tree where some perks increase damage of spells in the destruction school. Also in the Restoration tree there is a perk that increases effectiveness of ALL spells against undead.

Yeah well if destruction is as underpowered as people say "I have my doubts" then those are just good bugs eh?

The things you can be noticing that I can think of off hand.

Your timing is better so you get more spells off while the on fire effect is still going.

Undead are vulnerable to fire.

You have the fury perk which boosts fire damage by 10

You have necromage which boosts damage by 25%

You have some fire perks that will increase damage by up to 50%.

You activated the area at a earlier level so the guys you are facing are scaled to a lower level than you are currently.

It is just a low level dungeon.

Oh and the recent patch bugged resistances, so that might be effecting things.
