Conflict Problem?

I picked up Simple Essentials by Skycaptain a while ago and it has worked great and is just what I've wanted for immersion, since it has a script that reduces your stats if you do not eat, drink, or sleep for a while. However, while recently updating and installing a few mods and tools such as Wrye Bash and OBSE, Simple Essentials does not work anymore, no matter where it is in the load order.

I know it is not really a supported mod by Skycaptain, though I wish he would release and support it. Anyway I was just wondering if anyone could help me pick out any conflicts or ideas for getting it working again.

Doesn't COBL have some optional "requirements" built into it? (not completely sure on that....)

Hi,

I also have used this for years....how are you knowing it is not working?......Fast travel then not getting messages?.

I use http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34905 this allows me to see how much I need to Eat, Sleep, Drink.

The bars on the Far right are...top to bottom...Eat, Drink, Sleep, Progress to next level(nGCD). It is really nice to have the Visual.!!

At a loss here because this comes with no read-me But is truly simple. Try loading it dead last in your load order. Another option is to load all that up into TES4Edit and see if something is overwriting it.

EATING: No more dinner plate. Just click on the food you want to eat, and it will be consumed. If you accidentally click on something that isn't edible, the mod will tell you so. So no belly-aches from eating silver nuggets either.
You'll usually get more than a fair warning before any penalty is applied--you'll start out 'getting hungry' (no worries), and then go to 'I'm hungry' (...okay...), and after that 'very hungry' (yeah). These stages take some time, so
there's no real hurry to gulp something right down--and if you just don't have a chance to take time out for a meal, you're not going to die. You will feel it, though. A good breakfast will fix you right up.

DRINKING: Pretty much works the same way. Three warnings. In my experience using this with OOO, you'll get rid of your thirst and get drunk at the same time, if you slug down something alcoholic.
I don't recall if you can purchase empty water bottles ingame, it seems to me that you can... somewhere. But I never do. That's where all those low-level potions that I never use come in handy. Just sidle up next to a well, lake, or
river, open your inventory, and press 'E' while you hover your mouse over one of those useless bottles. The potion will be dumped out, and exchanged for a bottle of water. But... there are two kinds of water--clean (from wells)
and unclean (all those creatures standing upstream in lakes and rivers, you know). And while unclean water can be used in a pinch and does fix your thirst, you can get sick from drinking it.

That's where wine comes in. Research has proven that a leetle bit o' the graqe added to unclean water destroys germs ... or at least makes them happy enough not to mess with you. So even cheap wine can be your friend--just use
a wine bottle instead of a potion bottle, and you're good to go.
BTW, you'll do yourself a big favor if you carry a good supply of clean bottled water when you go to Elsweyr ... water is scarce in the desert!

SLEEPING: Same three warnings apply to sleeping ... a long dungeon takes you down a few attribute points, inconvenient but not fatal. And there's no sleep deficit involved.


-Go into your inventory while looking at a well, or any body of water, for a lake or river I think you have to be actually standing in the water.
-Hover your mouse over a potion bottle, an empty water bottle or a bottle of wine.(Hover, don't click)
-Click on the 'E' key while hovering.
If you hovered over a potion bottle you get a new filled water bottle.
If you hovered over an empty water bottle you get it filled
If you hovered over a wine bottle, and you've got an empty water bottle, you get two bottles of watered wine.

Getting water from anywhere but a well will give you dirty water. You can drink it but you might get a disease.


....Note: it says here that you use the "e" key...but for me its the space bar....MY Jump Key??

Thanks for the replies. I know it is not working because I can play for hours and no messages show up that say I need to eat, drink, or sleep and my stats don't change. I have also tried loading it last but it still doesn't work. I have TES4Edit but I don't really know how it works.

I also have that readme from the posts on the internet but it doesn't help much and I never got the bottle filling to work so I just use Shads Water Bucket mod.

Cobl does have a survival mod that completments other mods but I don't think it is meant to be used on its own.

Are you using Wrye Bash 292/293 and a Cbash Patch? Many mods that use ini files are having problems with Cbash Bashed Patches. I have confirmed this myself with a few mods. You will find that reverting to a Python based Patch will often fix the problem.

Are you using Wrye Bash 292/293 and a Cbash Patch? Many mods that use ini files are having problems with Cbash Bashed Patches. I have confirmed this myself with a few mods. You will find that reverting to a Python based Patch will often fix the problem.


I don't know how to tell if it's a Cbash Patch. I did upgrade to v292, but I don't think that SimpleEssentials has an ini file.

Edit: I opened up TES4Edit but there doesn't appear to be a conflict, all the entries have a white background. Is there a way to force a script to run even if it is overridden?

In the header of Wrye Bash it will have the version number, For Example the current svn has Wrye Bash 294,CBash v0.5.3:Default [SI]
To disable the cbash, you just go into the Mopy folder and rename the cbash.dll to _cbash.dll to disable cbash. You will need to rebuild your Bashed Patch (maybe two times), but hopefully the mod will work again.

Well disabling cbash did the trick, it works fine now, thanks!

I had to do a clean save with my recent save file because I had played for a while with SimpleEssentials activated but without the script working, so upon loading my recent save the script killed me instantly. That was kind of funny!

Anyway thanks to those who posted, now I just need to figure out the HUD bars for SimpleEssentials.
