Changing font size for DarkUId DarN mod?

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 3:29 pm

The words are kind of blurry in this mod. Is there a step-by-step guide to change the font size without disabling the mod?

If you're using the small fonts it's easy to switch to larger ones:

Edit "My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Oblivion.ini" to use the new fonts:

Normal fonts:
[Fonts]
SFontFile_1=Data\Fonts\Kingthings_Regular.fnt
SFontFile_2=Data\Fonts\DarN_Kingthings_Petrock_14.fnt
SFontFile_3=Data\Fonts\DarN_Kingthings_Petrock_16.fnt
SFontFile_4=Data\Fonts\DarN_Oblivion_28.fnt
SFontFile_5=Data\Fonts\Handwritten.fnt

Large fonts:
[Fonts]
SFontFile_1=Data\Fonts\Kingthings_Regular.fnt
SFontFile_2=Data\Fonts\DarN_LG_Kingthings_Petrock_14.fnt
SFontFile_3=Data\Fonts\DarN_LG_Kingthings_Petrock_18.fnt
SFontFile_4=Data\Fonts\DarN_Oblivion_28.fnt
SFontFile_5=Data\Fonts\Handwritten.fnt

If you're already using the larger fonts there's not much you can do about it I think.

They should not be blurry. If they are, it could be anything from having MLAA on by default (courtesy of CCC) to your monitor (or its hardware settings, even) to... well, anything really.

Is it a general problem with smaller text, do you find? Of course, if it is, disregard the first line entirely.

The text was blurry because I was running it at a very low resolution like 600x 700 or something. I needed it to run that low for better performance. I just ended up switching the graphics to low quality and upped the resolution to 800. I still wish there was a way to make the text bigger so I can run it at a low resolution.

Did you look at Arkngt's post? There are definitely options for installing larger fonts.

My interface is all hacked together from various pieces, and at one point I used some kind of font generator to get the exact font size and style I wanted for inventory and stuff. Anyone know what I'm talking about? ObFontGen?

Looks like it, but apparently I got the newer version http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=oblivionutilities.detail&id=5. Had to read a comment on tesnexus there mentioning the newer version is available on planetelderscrolls. I've downloaded so much stuff I've forgotten where half of it came from heh :P

Huh, that's unusual, for Nexus not to have the latest version if it's uploaded on both site, ha-ha.

Happy gaming!

The minimum you can run the game with DarkUI DarN installed is 1024x768

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11280

Scroll down to the bottom of the description in the FAQ

Q: My resolution is < 1024 and...
A: Anything below 1024x768 will look bad, and you won't be able to read text. Use something other than DarNified UI /DarkUI'd DarN.

Wow, good catch and good to know.

In that case OP, have you tried the original Dark UI (2.40) by DarkBirdy?
