Does NV have a pet like "Dogmeat" from FO3

I have had FO3 since a week after it came out and I just bought NV from Ebay, just a random Q is there a pet or something like that in NV cos' I loved having "Dogmeat" as my pet :)

The floating mimir ED-E a eye bot companion, both of these are pet companions.. petanions?
You're only allowed one of these at a time in the party.
However you can also take one human or humaniod as a companion as well.
