Can you unlock attacking while jumping?

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 7:38 pm

Why can't we attack while jumping, feels kinda stupid not to be able to, like your able to do in every other TES game ever made. Just another minor problem with this game. Add them all up and I'm starting to hate Skyrim and love it at the same time. So frustrating ugh lol. So is there any perk or anything that unlocks attacking while jumping at all in the game?!

Because it leaves you open and you have less power during a swing. I guess they did it for realism?

Or you have more power during a swing due to greater momentum (Swing up when jumping up, swing down when falling. Both give you more momentum and speed to your blow.)

Lmao I always find it funny when someone says they did it for realism in a game like this. I mean your fighting dragons and can shoot fire out of the palms of your hands! I think realism left TES a long time ago.

It always felt natural and right and more fun to jump off some rock or cliff and slash a baddie mid air. Also we can't use weapons under water anymore either but even if we could it would be usless since just about every body of water in Skyrim seems to only be knee deep.

More Prince-of-Persia style aerial acrobatic combat maneuvers pl0x!

I loved my jump attacks in Oblivion: Nothing like leaping down from a high rock and stabbing someone in the face before landing on their ragdolling body.

My guess is because they removed Acrobatics and couldn't be bothered to assign the ability to another skill tree.

It is interesting that the DEV put a sprinting critical hit with a 2 handed sword that results in a skipping leap (a small jump where both feet are not touch the ground for a 1/2 second or so) into the air just before the blade comes down onto the target. You really only can see this in 3rd person however.

I wanted to post this observation and this thread looked like as good as place as any to post it.

There is a similar thing with doing a double claw attack while running as a werewolf where you attempt to pounce anything in the way... that also involves a small jump like animation.

meh I play in first person so I don't even notice it, plus I want to be able to jump off of anything and attack mid air if I want with any kind of attack. Not jus skip 6 inches off the ground which I can't even notice.

One of the finishers for one-handed swords works seemlessly with jumping off a ledge onto your target. It's the one where you turn your sword around and go down on one knee. I've done it three times now and it looks great.
