Wrye Bash Installation for Dummies

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 1:01 am

Hi folks. I'm probably missing something obvious in the installation process, but I've been over the installation directions half a dozen times and read over every other guide I could find (ie those linked in the Relz), and I'm still lost. I'm completely new to Wrye Bash.

I have Wrye Bash 293 Installer Version
Wrye Python 04a
and BOSS 1.8

BOSS was installed first and runs correctly. I then installed Wrye Python, and then Wrye Bash. I'm running Vista, and have OB installed to C:Games/Oblivion. This is where Wrye Bash is installed to. The Mopy folder is within the Oblivion folder. When I go to start Wrye Bash, if I use the Wry Bash launcher (Type: Python file (no console)) it does nothing. If I try the Wrye Bash application button (with the WB specific icon) it gives me an error and tells me to refer to the wrye bash exe log file.

In the log file it says this:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "Wrye Bash Launcher.pyw", line 31, in
bash.main()
File "bash.pyo", line 311, in main
File "basher.pyo", line 15386, in InitLinks
File "basher.pyo", line 14297, in InitStatusBar
IndexError: tuple index out of range

I'm not sure what that means or how to go about forming a solution. I apologize in advance for my ineptitude, but if someone could point me in the right direction, I would be extremely grateful. Thanks in advance.

There is a Bash thread full of people reporting this or a similar error. Please, post in that thread, and actually read the thread first to see if an answer to your question has already been posted. I'm pretty sure I've seen this exact same error on multiple occasions already. This may be a bug fixed in the next release. I can't remember which error this one is.

In your mopy folder, right click basher python file, choose edit with pythonwin.
You have to find the line that says,,,,if version > 3: version = 1,,,so copy paste that into the Find box.
replace with this,http://oblivionworks.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/oblivionworks/Programs/Wrye%20Bash/Mopy/bash/basher.py?r1=1331&r2=1330&pathrev=1331.

Copy paste the first line so its exact, press enter, and copy paste second line. So you are replacing one line with two lines. Done. save when you close.
Hope thats clear

Thanks so much. I had no idea this could be related to the BOSS thing, and am so new to Wrye Bash that I felt completely lost. Thanks again.
