lol, is anybody familiar with Brad McQuaid? I think he is still in hiding.

Yeah, I remember him. If not for him, Blizzard would not be raking in billions a year through WoW. Your point?

They can in theory change things immediately, but in practice they're probably going to test changes before implementing them, so you won't be seeing everything you request an hour after complaining about it on the forums. Sorry.

There's so much wrong with this post.

Just release the CK and let us fix your game Bethesda. Seriously.

Because that fixes everybody's problems?

I'm referring to Vanguard... he never worked for Blizzard... unless you are implying Blizz took EQ's concept to the bank

Ah Todd Howard, Americas answer to Peter Molyneux.

Not quite. I think Peter at least intends for what he says to be true, even if they don't end up being so.

I believe Todd Howard is a full on liar who knows there will never be any such thing, but will say anything to sell the games.

Because that fixes everybody's problems?

Who fixed the majority of the bugs in every single TES and Fallout game Bethesda made? Oh yeah, that's right. The modders. So yes, that would fix everyone's problems. Outside of those gullible enough to put this on their console instead of a PC.

Yes, I know he talked a lot of talk when it came to Vanguard, and I also know he did not work for Blizzard. Yes, I was talking about EQ. Comparing him to Peter Molyneux is kind of ridiculous. One has always been nothing but talk, while another was an innovator of the MMORPG world.

Todd Howard could care less, they just wanted to persuade people into thinking that the game engine wasn't buggy and to lie pretty much to the public and fans aware of there game engine about some new made up system of "squashing those bugs", the article is misleading. Marketing or not, you don't mislead your consumers. The only reason why I didn't wait to buy Skyrim was because I actual believed that they have implemented a new system of fixing bugs faster or "on the fly". Not the case at all. They have the same problems every release and it will not change. I will never pre order anything ever again until I read about the problems being fixed first before purchase.

Notable quotes from Todd Howard http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=22418:

""You can pull up a review of Arena, our first Elder Scrolls games, and if you black out a few words, you can't tell what Elder Scrolls game it is, whether it's Daggerfall, Morrowind, or Oblivion," he said."

Yep, because every one of them will mention how it's full of bugs.

"Install base really doesn't matter," said Howard, kicking off the theme of making games based on passion, not equations -- and showing a pie graph demonstrating the Wii's formidable market share. "My comeback is, if install base really mattered, we'd all make board games, because there are a lot of tables."

There's where he told PC users they didn't matter.

"Howard called out Bethesda's marketing VP, Pete Hines, and argued that marketing must be a part of the development process from the beginning. Every piece of media a player sees prior to playing the game influences their expectations and perception of the experience itself."

And marketing is what Todd does best. He will lie like a [censored], 'cause afterhe's got your money it won't matter.

And a funny little side note. you know why they're taking so long getting you modders the "Creation Kit"?

It's because they know [censored]'s going to hit the fan when everyone who currently tries to deny it to themselves and others, and believe Bethesda's spin about the "new engine", sees that the "Creation Engine" is in fact nothing but good ol' Gamebryo heavily modified.

I am pretty sure most know by now that the Creation Engine is a modified Gamebryo engine. I could care less if they still made it look like Fallout, but too have the same release day problems. Quest bugs, incomplete quest all together is a huge breaker for me. I hate worry more about what crazy glitch, bug, or something in the game that will break the involvement into the game then actually enjoying the game. It is like that with every game they release day one and until several weeks maybe months go by, will the game be amazing. I think they are holding back on the Creation Kit until DLC comes out for the consoles. Xbox, PS3.

T. Howard also said Skyrim's engine was new.

He sounds suspiciously like Steve Carell.
I think it actually is him, in disguise.

Yeah, which also ignores the fact that NO ONE creates a console game on a console platform. They use PC to develop and then make the code compatible with the consoles format.

Unless Im wrong, but I doubt it.

You're wrong. In fact, Todd alluded to the 360 being the lead dev kit to develop Skyrim (as was Oblivion as was Morrowind with the original Xbox) . Yes, of course they use PCs to make the animations and write the code since the Xbox isn't a PC, but MS give developers the toolset and 360 emulators to create the game for their platform and the toolset can be used on PC. Once developed, it is then ported over to PC using a different UI (badly implemented in Skyrim too) and graphical tools to ramp up the settings. If Skyrim were really dev'd on PC first, the first indicator would be that PC users would see an install of at least 8gigs in files with Hi-Res textures. But, the PC install is the same as the console install.

Mmm, joy. Oh well. My actual point is that they have to use the PC platform to do whatever they are doing, regardless of emulation or not. It just seemed logically consistant to make sure it runs well on the PC after all is said and done.

There is a very limited amount of "data space" that is available for those types of fixes that don't require a full-fledged patch. It works great for balancing things, tweaking numbers/formulas, etc. It won't do squat for fixing true bugs.
