please do something about the horses

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 1:45 am

I love this game,In fact Ive already put in just over 100 hours and Ive seriously never seen anything like it.

But please can ya fix the horses, why have ya made em suicidal lunatics. If a dragon attacks I wanna kill it.....I dont wanna see my stupid bloody horse attacking it,which not only looks stupid it can also make killing it a lot easier.Im sick of coming across a bandit camp, parking my horse up then going in with my bow and arrow only too see my horse thundering past me attacking everything it sees.It was funny at first but now its beginning too grind a bit.
Ive tried exploring on foot but it just doesn't feel the same running everywhere.

I know Beth wont listen, but maybe a modder will hear our screams.Cause the horses nearly ruin an otherwise great game

I'm 40 hours in lvl 30 and my horse usually dies in a couple of hits if it tries to fight.

Indeed my horses died pretty fast once I got to a certain level and since I can easily outrun the horse by that point I decided not to buy another.

If you really want to keep your horse out of danger just get off it some distance from the enemies, it will automatically appaer at any location you fast travel to later on.

I owned a horse for about 6 minutes. When I first bought it, I realized I can run about as fast as he can... but I have to get off every time I need to attack something. Then I thought, OK maybe they make traversing mountains easier... that ended 20 seconds later with the lifeless body of my horse being swept down a waterfall.

I didn't buy another one.

Horses should shy away from combat and have infinite sprint like werewolves. ATM they are only in the game as RP mechanics, but they fail even as that because of their aggression.

Just a guess, but maybe they are coded to be companions, hence why they go in to fight? That kind of seems like a bug to me that needs to be addressed.

After I lost my first horse, and to whom or what I don't even know, I never saw it lose a battle, I decided 1,000 gold was just too expensive to waste on a horse with all the inconveniences of one.

If Beth gives me the ability to hire or buy a second horse for my companion to ride, and makes them stupider so they don't rush in and attack the enemy, I'm likely to buy 2 more horses (1 for me, 1 for my companion) but until that time, I guess I'll just run.

If chickens could grass ya up,then yea the hoses are probably coded as companions :brokencomputer:

But hopefully some clever modders can code a proper horse, and maybe even a way of calling it back and.Now this is a long shot, but hopefully we'll be able to use our bow from horseback one day.

I like my horse, and I think it's cute.... But DAMN it's un-practical!

-For all the above mentioned reasons, and a few more. -Why oh why do I become MUTE when I ride? I happily ride along the road, meet a travelling NPC, and... Meh, can't even talk to him?!? I dismount to talk, to fight, to pick up herbs, and I flee from mobs I wouldn't normally flee from... just to TRY and protect my suicidal horsie so I don't have to buy another... again.

So in tthe end... yes, actuallly I DO love my horse. -But I rarely ever use it anymore, really. :(

It'd be nice to be able to set their aggression level - early on I used my horse as a tank a lot (Frost has pretty high health, and Shadowmere is even better), but once I was a bit more powerful I just wanted it to stay put after I dismounted. As for being able to outrun your horse, I modded mine to be 50% faster, which is great, except that my computer can't handle loading things that quickly, so it ctd's half the time I try riding anywhere. Really wish Bethesda had taken that into account when they coded what amounts to vehicle support into their engine.

I agree when it comes to the Horses, I bought 2 and stole 2... but they are quite useless. Who and where is Shadowmere?? I havent much cared for horses very early in the game so I havent see this Shadowmere yet.
