Exploring mod?

I think I remember reading of a mod ages ago which took away the markers on your in game compass for things like caves so you had to actually discover them rather than the game showing them to you on a plate. Is there such a mod and has anyone used it?

Also do you consider Midas' spells overpowered? I am going with supreme magicka but don't know about Midas.

It really is a shame to play OB on the PC without a good UI mod... such as http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11280. It is customizable, including the option to turn off some/all markers, or even change the distance at which they show up on the compass. Browse the Nexus for other UI mods as there are alternatives, though this is one of the best.

I would say that vanilla magic is mostly underpowered... really it depends on what other mods you use. If using an overhaul, magic really needs some help... I don't use Midas myself ATM- enjoying SM + LAME- but it looks very fun.

My http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1141697-relz-map-marker-overhaul/ mod has settings that let you choose the distances from where the markers become visible in the compass, with default settings quite much closer than in vanilla, for the reason you state.

And yes, lots of people are using Map Marker Overhaul :)

That's brilliant, thanks Nice one. I will use that alongside Darnified UI. Your real time sleep mods looks really good too.

Concerning magic I am using FCOM with the damage and durability.esp on so combat is powerful, if it is suggested I should balance up the magic then I will run with supreme magicka and Midas.

As a major part of FCOM Oscuro's already contains it's own magic overhaul, therefore the mod has been designed and balanced as such..
I know that these are exceptionally popular, but IMO magic overhauls tend to unbalance the mod in much the same way as the bash patch tweak of unlimited rings and amulets.
Just sayin' :hubbahubba:

Thanks for the warning, I don't tend to be primarily a magic user so not installing them won't be such a big deal.
