I feel guilty for wanting to ditch Lydia...

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 9:42 pm

Should I kill her and take her stuff, or let find a dragon to fight and let her die that way? The only reason I'm asking is because I JUST got her to follow me, and I'm realizing that I should probably have either 1) a heavier warrior to compliment my play style, or 2) a ranged fighter to hit enemies from afar. So I'm leaning towards Marcurio because he can actually heal and apparently people are saying his commentary is awesome.

If you want to part ways you can just tell her to return to your house in Whiterun.

go up to the throat of the world. Take all of your stuff off her and use the Fus Ro Dah to knock her off the mountain.

Im not going to spoil you, but you will want to keep her in whiterun, instead of making her die. You could find an use for her later on.

Yeah, just tell her to go away - she'll wait for you in your house if you ever want her back.

I Fus-Ro-Dahed her off the Throat of the World, and she came back up.

My Lydia died (I forget how) literally a few minutes after she became my housecarl. Am I missing out on something good?

Give Lydia a really good bow and arrow, she will use it.

Why do you want to get rid of her permanently? Sending her home's as good as getting rid of her for most purposes - You can then proceed to get a new companion.

Same here. She might have lasted 10min.

There was an altercation with a couple of mages in the wilderness and somehow a gaint was dragged into the mix... bye bye Lydia.

No reason to feel bad, there's plenty of other followers. I keep the housecarls alive for one reason only - once I've filled their inventories I can tell them to part ways, and they'll be waiting at my house with all that stuff. Particularly useful for getting dragon bones back home without having to travel there. Other followers will go to their respective hiring locations instead, which I find annoying for pack mules.

How about you just tell her your time together has ended.

She is your house jarl, your butler! Send her back home to clean your house and get a follower that isn't specialized in folding socks.

So I guess in the long run, is Marcurio worth it? Or should I consider another companion that might compliment my melee playstyle better?

After Lydia managed to hit every single trap in a dungeon, I decided she just wasn't worth the trouble. The dog is smarter, and my new companion can throw ice spells and doesn't give me lip about carrying things. Lydia is now guarding my house.

I think Marcurio is annoying when I trade with him, It's worse then what lydia says.

I'll snoop around and find the companion that best suits my needs.

She survived being thrown off the Throat of The World?? (that place has the most bad ass sounding name ever)
Just dump her in your house but don't expect to find any bread when you return.

She died helping me to stop [BLANK] from returning from spirit form and I felt it was a glorious death and she would be remembered as a hero and find comfort in Sovngarde. I had previously reloaded whenever she died but this time I just went with it. I didn't really need her help anyway. Also it may have been an errant firebolt that killed her but that's neither here nor there ... rest well brave Lydia!

Outside the Blades Temple Lydia went berserk and disappeared, amongst a load of enemies. They were all killed and I did a search for her but didn't see her anywhere. Got the young mage woman to follow me on the dragon trap quest and did that then went back to look for Lydia, we found her dead, the enemy bodies were gone. I took her Blades armour and she lay in her undies, I felt a bit sad after all we've been through. I decided I would go back in time to when we were together (3 hours of gameplay ago), we parted ways and I went back to the Winterheld College for the young mage.
