Tavern song sounds familiar...

Being an Irish musician by trade and birth, I tend to hear a lot of songs and tunes that many people don't have the pleasure of listening to and truly experiencing. I also have a love and appreciation of music that I'm sure many do, but it really got me excited when I went into a Skyrim pub for the first time and heard a familiar tune in the background. It wasn't exactly right, but the similarities between Skyrim's tavern music and a Scottish song that I perform called "Are Ye Sleeping, Maggie?" just helped to add a bit more depth to the game for me. Here's a comparison between the two; I'm sure you'll notice that the chorus melodies are very similar.

I know that they aren't the same song, and I'm not saying that the composer ripped anyone off, just that the melodies are similar. I hope you enjoy the music.

Yeah, I get the same feeling listening to the bards. Especially when they sing The Dragonborn Comes but I believe that's because that's a somewhat common melody/variation?

Brilliant job with the songs. Shame there are only three. I guess implementing that sort of thing gets quite expensive, quite fast?

Yeah, but the few there are were well done. Except the lyrics...they seem a bit forced.

Too bad that isn't in the actual game. Bethesda should pay her and add it somewhere.

Great music with plenty of Irish spirits about it. TES 2 DAGGERFALL also had a very strong Irish flavor which gave the taverns a very relaxing homey feel to them to contrast the horrifying cold brutality of the vast outside world full of dangers. Listening to WFUV on weekend mornings and afternoons with its Irish programming definitely puts me in the mood for some SKYRIM. Thanks for the soothing links

To be honest, I didn't really care for it. As I said before, though, I think the lyrics are a bit forced.

In the Solitude tavern the bard plays a slow medly of the Daggerfall tavern theme.
