Any animation mods that adds Duel Wielding?

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 11:02 pm

I need a simple animation mod that features duel wielding (duel sword wielding)! So is there any besides Unneccesary Violence? I tried Unneccesary Violence and that mod seems to be perhaps the most complex mod ever and I had absolutely no success in ever getting that mod to work, as Unneccesary Violence (to me at least) seems to take a rocket scientist to get working correctly without your character dieing instantly after gamesave load! So is there any other duel wielding mods out there besides Unneccesary Violence that doesn't require having to install all these script mods in a certain tricky way and certain tricky order?

Unnecessary Violence is the only one. What you're looking for is very, very difficult to do, and it's the sort of thing that takes careful setup.

It does not, however, take a rocket scientist. All you have to do is read the readme carefully.

And if you're not willing to do that, well, you'll just have to live without.

You could check my dual wielding mod:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=33170

It does require Stylish Animation which is linked in the description at this page. Basically, it adds a ton of dual wield weapon sets; all the stock quality levels (iron, steel, elven, etc.), plus all the oriental styles from Akiviri Imports.

They are found randomly in the world, however there is also a vendor named Indrich at the waterfront district who will sell you a selection based on your level.

I had thought about doing all the swords from WAC, which I still may, however as Dragoon points out it is time consuming, and difficult, though I have already refined my scripts quite a bit so it would largely be cut and paste to adapt them to another set.

The major feature of my scripts that set them apart from others is they are fully compatible with companions.

When you bash patch, make sure you have it tagged to import leveled lists.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but those are just shield-weapons, right? And the anims are just that, I believe, and you can't swap between dual wielding and sword-and-board easily (because they use the same animation), correct? And your offhand weapon doesn't actually do damage or apply its effects, yes?

If you are just looking for dual wield animations, as stated in your post, then Seph's Dual Wield Beta and DMC stylish (both on TesNexus) are the mods that come to mind.

P.S.- Phinix' dual wield mod is pretty freaking cool, btw.

I'm going to have to recommend UV and caveat that you need to read the readme. There might be something in there that will solve the instant death. Read it from start to finish; don't just skim it.

More or less, yes. It is a limitation of the game engine. As far as I can tell there isn't a way around getting the offhand to actually do damage without messing up damage ratios in general. You could try and simulate it saying "if attacking get weapon damage do this much x2" and time it to the animation play duration, but it seems sticky.

I'll have to check out UV, but I would be surprised if it was able to do this, getting offhand swings to inflict their own damage. Could be wrong though, just throwing another option out there.

EDIT: WOW! UV looks to be a truly epic mod. Must make use of a ton of OBSE functions I've not even delved into. Or Pluggy...

I can't believe I missed this before now. Also, it does look like it handles damage by both weapons.
