Disarm Shout

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 6:00 am

I know the idea was good and all but thanks to the unstable physics in this game, disarm shout might as well be renamed lose your shield and weapon permanently shout as it more than often sends you equipment through the floor making it unreachable.

Anyone else with me or do you think the shout should stay as it is?

Lol, i remember when it was first used on me.... i thought it literally just sort of ''sheathed'' your weapon, as in i still owned it. So i changed to magic, beat the boss. And some 2 hours later i went to equip my trusty sword. Nope not there.... then i remembered the disarm shout, so i went back. Dunno if it glitched out or what, but i couldn't find that sword in that room where i fought the Deathlord anywhere

I have lost a number of enchanted weapons to it permanently. if it gets cast at me i quickly look for it and have managed to catch them quickly while they skip across the floor but some times its impossible. i hate that dam shout. plus it only work on weaker opponents I find. Opponents where it doesn't matter if they have a stick or a huge great sword they are going to die in 3 hits regardless, where as the tough guy I would really like to disarm has glued his weapon to his hands the smart smart man.

It often glitches through the floors and wall so I'd say yeah that is where it ended up. The amount of times I've lost stuff to these.. it is getting a bit silly now. <_<

I've only been disarmed once in my 160 hours of gameplay (level 63). Found the weapon (which was Dawnbreaker) in less than a minute.

The amount of things that lit h through the floor is laughable. 1/5 of all enemies I kill go straight through the floor.

Have not had the misfortune of dealing with this yet. But I wonder, what happens if you and a Deathlord were to use the disarm shout at the same time..? Hmmm. :geek:

You have been lucky then especially taking unique's into battle against them. I think anyone could find Dawnbreaker in less than a minute though as long as it didn't glitch through the floor or wall. :P

Disarm doesn't seem to work on all enemies  Even though it works on your character every time lol. You know what it is, they use glue, and we are obviously butter fingers.

The draugr breathe in before shouting, just interrupt them or sidestep when you see this.

Really it is not a difficult concept to grasp and avoid :P

In close to 90 hours of playtime the disarm shout has not worked against me one time and I've faced countless Deathlords at this point. Don't know why. Just lucky I guess.

And as the OP mentioned losing his shield...

The disarm shout doesn't knock your shield off you. It simply puts it in your backpack. Hit your shield hotkey and it should pop right back up. On that note, I've shield bashed a deathlord at the same time as he disarm shouted me. We basically swapped weapons. I took his ebony greatsword and he took my ebony shortsword.

There are time's when you are not in a position to do that though. It might be the odd occasion when caught in battle with something else and are to busy to side step but you are certainly going to remember it if the weapon and shield gets sent hurtling into oblivion.

Anyway its not so much them using it that bothers me or so much a weapon/shield taking a bit of time to find afterwards. Its the fact its so powerful that it makes your equipment irretrievable 9 times out of 10.

EDIT: Do'h! Cheers Askar I didn't realise that about the shields. That is something I guess. :foodndrink:

I haven't been disarmed yet , 50 hours in, but a few draugr lords have used shouts on me that didn't do anything, I figured it was supposed to disarm me, but never did.

I've been disarmed loads, and never had it glitch. Dawnbreaker glows like a nuclear reactor at times making it easy to spot too.
