I am sure this has been a topic much discussed yet but I fail to find anything within the Lore forums and I don't dare to read what all the "new kids on the block" have to say about it. So now I wonder; how will Bethesda go on from this point? Altough the main quest did not provide us with different endings, the side quests have. Did you join the Stormcloaks or did you help the Legion? What did you do with the Dark Brotherhood?

Since I highly doubt that Bethesda is capable to do what BioWare did in Mass Effect, there are only two options for that. Neither are good though. Of course they could just say "That's canon, that ain't" which would obviously upset the Community. I for one am a true Nord and all those traitors are to be brought to justice (all those 'essential' NPCs will have a proper execution once the CK arrives). Others like a buddy of mine stayed true to the Empire and took down the Rebellion because 'he likes romans'.

The other thing is; they could create another Dragon Break like they did in Daggerfall which would be entirely stupid (not even now it makes sense what they did back then).

What do you think and which is the best scenario? Maybe you got some ideas how they could resolve it without being stupid or upset the fans.

This question has been asked about a hundred times and I never understand why. You say the options are to say one is canon and one isn't, or to have a Dragon Break.

But what about the most obvious option of never mentioning it? Do we know the inner workings of the politics in other provinces at the time of Skyrim? No, because it's not essential information and it's not necessary even for flavor. The next game will take place in a different province and by that time, I won't care about the Stormcloaks or what's going on in Skyrim, I'll care about...where ever we are and what's going on there.

Which ending is canon? Whichever one you want.
