what size gem for a human soul? : V

Trying to figure out what size gems to use for what size souls I run into. I seem to remember the older games always had like one "massive" gem that would hold every soul you could come across or possible (I forget) hold multiple souls.

You could also get Azura's Star. Which acts as a refillable soul gem. But I'm unsure if it's still in. Though I don't know why it wouldn't be.

Black is about the only thing that will hold human souls. There is a certain gem in the game you get that gives you a choice to have it as a permanent black soul gem, or a white one that will capture any creatures soul.

Edit: Since it's already been names, lol. Azura's star will let you make the choice to have it as a permanent black or white soul gem. Black will capture any human/mer, and white will capture any creatures.

There' a list on the UESP Wiki that gives the soul sizes for various creatures in the game. I'm posting from my phone so I can't include a link, but if you go to the Skyrim section of UESP and search for "souls", the list will come up.

Azura's Star is still in. Just need to complete the quest associated with it. For the OP, Azura's Star acts as a reusable Black Soul gem.

To clarify on azura's star which is a bit of a spoiler...

there are two things you can do with Azura's Star in the quest. A mage asks you to bring it to him or you can return it to Azura, selecting the former keeps Azura's star as a reusable black soul gem (it is bugged, as it's suppose to ONLY catch black souls in this form but catches all/any). Returning the star to Azura removes the ability to capture human souls and is suppose to be the way to enable it capture normal/white souls.
