What is everyone's problem?

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 12:37 am

Problems i've encountered after playing for 33 hours... teleporting deer and getting thrown into the air by giant bug and they don't make the game broken. If you have some issue that makes the game completely unplayable you are propably doing something wrong (for example using mods that aren't compatible with the current version).

  • Game will not load up due to 1.2

For the most part I do ignore the main quest as I prefer my own role play, but this particular part of the main quest is needed by my character, I'd explain more but it's a major spoiler!

It was more of a joke, because thats what the OP tells us to do.

Truth be told, most gamers are spoiled. Have you seen the TV show "Bridezillas"? Same thing. They want everything to be perfect, first time, every time. And when it's not, they get in a twist.

I mean, really, let's be honest here. Considering the gargantuan size of the world of Skyrim, and the amount of resources that Bethesda and her game designers have dedicated to one of their flagship titles, I'm quite content with the game thus far. I think it's great. Patch 1.2 turned out to be a bite in the [censored], but they'll fix it. If you think the game is unplayable, I challenge anyone to design a game this large, and this deep, and launch it with zero defects. No one could pull that off. Should Bethesda adopt the same mantra that Blizzard uses and tell their customers that "we'll release it when it's ready"? Perhaps. But WoW, StarCraft and Diablo are not scripted like the ES games. Personally, I'm tired of listening to a bunch of spoiled rotten gamers pissing and moaning about a handful of minor details that will ultimately get fixed. Skyrim is a glorious achievement and the crowning jewel in a storied franchise. I would hope Bethesda will respond quickly and precisely to fix the issues that are currently affecting game play.

You probably don't understand resistance mechanics well enough or had none in the first place.

What I did was make a new character near the time of the patch, a Dunmer Assassin. I'd certainly notice it on my Paladin, his armor was all buffed out with resistances, but my new character is too low level to get much resistance in the first place beyond the innate 50% fire. And I'm so used to having relatively low resistance to fire as an Imperial that I didn't notice my resists weren't working til I checked this forum.

Not planning to try my level 50 again til that bug is fixed. Should feel good to be able to bask in dragonfire once my Dunmer gets his fire resist back :D

Yea, 90% of the time that does work. Most recently I couldn't progress with the Imperial quest line because Legate Rikke just wouldn't talk. Reloaded, and we're good to go. The problem is sometimes these glitches occur and I don't realize it right away, since I have about 30 quests at any time. Thus, I didn't realize the companions was bugged until about 10 hours of gameplay later, and so I've gone nowhere with them and can't unless I restart my whole game. Things like that are infuriating, since it means to avoid these things I basically have to do a quest as soon as it's assigned, or simply accept the consequences later if it's bugged and I don't realize it until it's too late.

To the OP - All I was really getting at is that I don't think most people are here just to bash the game (trolls are usually obvious) - just most of us are having such a good time that when [censored] goes wrong it's far more annoying, because we care that our good time is ruined. If it was a horrible game, like Cursed Crusade for instance, we wouldn't bother complaining or continuing to play, we'd just return the stupid thing.

Maybe that's my problem I rarely have more than 4 quests at a time ( and then it's usually DB)

Different people are experiencing different bugs, some might be gamebreaking. The majority are able to play just fine, though, and this is a fairly stable release for an open world bethesda game. Just saying, we all knew how the first month or so was likely going to be.

the game was fine until the new patch, completely removing magic resistance does leave the game broken for many people and playstyles, it would be like if armor didn't work, imagine wearing armor and you took damage like if you were totally naked, now if you don't rely on magic resistance then you prob won't notice as much wrong but if you rely on magic the game is broken until the magic resistance is fixed. some character builds rely on magic resistance heavily.

Its been almost unplayable for about 2 weeks..

I cannot complete the guild questlines, nor can i complete the quests that simpletons give me

I fought a dragon at an altar today and it decided to crash land half way up the cliff, so it was walking on air while falling down the cliff..
after i killed it i had to watch its body roll very clunky down the cliff hitting rocks and trees on the way down

Also, how is the thieves guild? its it fun?
i miss fun...

i have not encountered one bug yet that svcks for you im a level 49 too

Im loving the game but every since i installed the update on ps3 it seems to lock up alot for me mostly only when i fast travel or go into a dungeon entrance. i think my bluray drive is going out again because some games wont start for me without a few disk inserts. but before the patch i wasnt getting any lockups at all. dunno if its the patch or what. guess its time to send it off again. but i wont complain about any bugs ive encountered very few also.

I'm getting tired of people complaining about people complaining! Stop!

Cheers

Personally, I am tired of people complaining about people who complain about people complaining!

Honestly, I define 'unplayable' as: so broken I cannot get in game. The game won't boot to the game world. Or, I have a point I must pass, that by interacting with, within the game world, my game crashes.

Optional sidequest bugs, big deal, shelved it. Enemies floating: cool, the game world just had to take a escher moment.

So for me when someone says: "I was ig and..." Or: "but the my numbers mission went buggy." I will roll my eyes.

If you cannot even open skyrim, or your a ps3 user who lost 20+ hours of save games: you my friend can pelt Todd Howard's car with rocks and I wouldn't call you out. The rest of you deal with it. We play computer games, we expect bugs. As was said by a great man at release: "so this is the pc version, meaning it will have [censored] bugs for about a month, and then they will fix it. Dogs will be talking to each other, people will explode randomly, disembodied heads floating everywhere..."

I have been paying skyrim since release and I have encountered very few bugs. What is everyone's problem calling it a broken game? I also love the game loads and I am not bothered.

I can ignore the little bugs. I've played oblivion and morrowind to exhaustion, so I know something about bethesda bugs :flamethrower:

The big game breaking ones need to be addressed. I've not experienced the big ones. But they are on youtube.

The game is lightyears away from unplayable.

It might be because I used to be a tester and am very used to seeing bugs and having to work around them. But out side of busted quests and the PS3 lag issue, I dont think any of the bugs I have seen are major or game breaking.

It's not broken it just isn't polished. Only a few people say it's broken, and of course that's a legitimate issue, but most people just complain about polish.

I have yet to encounter any game breaking bugs, Patch 1.2 pretty much fixed my game, all my quest lines work properly now, which was a godsend, I've only ran across minor ones, which is fine, every game has it's bugs

Same here.

I noticed a couple of issues I would categorize as serious serious, but they were more isolated. There were some other things but they were more a question of polish as a previous poster identified - so no broken game for me, just some niggles I expect will be worked out with patches (which has already started).

Voted other. The bugs do not affect everyone equally. For those that it breaks the game, it's bad. For others, perhaps only irritating.

I have the PS3 version, which is Bethesda's red headed stepchild of the Skyrim world.

I have had to stop playing until patch 1.03. Hope it fixes what they broke in patch 1.02. Patch 1.01 was slightly playable until the lag got too bad to do anything. I would definitely call that "broken". Your poll should be split between the 3 versions, because I imagine from anecdotal evidence the Xbox version is quite playable.

I wouldn't call it broken, but since the 1.2 bug patch, I've had some very annoying issues. But you have to expect that with a game this size, and Bethesda is working on it.

I voted other mainly because the unpached game works great for me.. But after the patchs some silly problems give me bad moments..

-the game frequently crashes for me
-sometime some texture won't load

Other: It's not broken, but I cannot help but feel the game would have been that much better had Bethesda not been lazy and instead developed on the PC first, then ported to consoles.
