Missing Mesh Errors

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 4:07 am

So I recently installed Oblivion on my new computer, and just dumped a plethora of mods that I am familiar with in. When I launched it, I'm coming across some odd problems that I've never experienced before when I downloaded the same mods, and I'm uncertain as to what I did wrong, as I carefully went through this... I ran BOSS to sort my load order, and I THINK I installed everything correctly.

As of now, I can't go anywhere without seeing a giant error "WTF I'm a Missing Mesh" everywhere I look. Everywhere. This is specifically in the Imperial City waterworks where I got off the Alternative Start boat and found everything infested with missing meshes. Also, Imperial Guard NPCs are portrayed as just a floating head and a floating sheath... I'm pretty sure there's more NPCs affected than just guards though, and it really stumps me. I really want to find what is causing the missing meshes so I can figure out what I did wrong.

Here is my modlist/load order.

Use FromID Finder or RefScope, both found on TESNexus.

And a bit of advice for the future, never install more than one mod at a time, even if you've used them all before. Install one, test it for a bit, install another, test it for a bit.

Check out (i.e., read through) the OP of the current MMM thread - it will have much information you apparently still need to take on board.

Also, where is your Bashed Patch? It could simply have been omitted from the copy-paste procedure, somehow, I suppose. But then, I cannot see any evidence of imported and/or merged plugins, which again, is very odd indeed.

Follow the instructions here -> http://tescosi.com/wiki/Oblivion:How_to_Post_Your_Load_Order if you did it any other way (i.e., try the proper Wrye Bash method, and post whatever comes out of that).

edit: You also need to heed Wrye Bash (and BOSS) warnings, carefully. Such as missing masters (e.g., in the case of "62 Silverfish&bgIntegrationPatch.esp [CRC: 5F6AEC2F]", given that you do not - and cannot properly - have Integration itself installed).

edit: Corrected a mistake, above.

Are you using BSA redirection through OBMM or Wrye Bash?

Thanks for your help guys. I got the problem squashed eventually, as I believe it was caused by a few things, one being that somehow I had OOO installed incorrectly on this computer, which was a no-brainer and I apologize for bringing up this topic.

As for the bashed patch, I'm afraid the details are somewhat going over my head, as every time I rebuild the patch and enable it, Oblivion crashes on launch, which is usually a sign of conflicting/missing master files, correct? I've found my game is playable just fine without the Bashed Patch and I've been too stupid/timid to mess with the Bashed Patch to get it to stop crashing my game on launch.

:) Well I am no expert on the OOO side of things, but the whole point of the bashed patch is to make some mods work properly .. All Natural for instance (part of All Naturals readme tells you a bashed patch is necessary for this to work properly)

Have you had a look at the references for patchers, heres my simplified version image from the Pictorial Guide http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/images/35230-1-1311627195.jpg

and heres the full reference from Waruddar http://oblivionworks.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/oblivionworks/Programs/Wrye%20Bash/Mopy/patch_option_reference.html

Not sure what is going on with your bashed patch, but are you selecting the correct things in your patch? See al3rnity's guide http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35230, esp. building the bashed patch part.

Frankly, if you disable the bashed patch, the rule of one applies and in case of a conflict, the last loaded mod wins. So you may not see the effects of all your mods in the game, as some will be overwritten by others loading later.

PS: Some commentary on your LO:
Use enhanced economy instead of living economy. much better and bug-free than LE.
You need to update OOO to v 1.34b5. it appears you are using v 1.33.
Try Arthmoor's Alternative Begginings as an alternate start mod. very new, and has great starting options too not found elsewhere!

What mod is
1E P1DlookHereYou.esp [CRC: F8F7FC91]?

PS: Did you not release a music compilation? If so, love your stuff. :) Any recent work in that area?

Thank you both for your advice and feedback.

@alt3rn1ty: Thank you for the guide, it is very helpful and I will mess with my bashed patch more to configure it better. Hopefully it won't crash my game after I configure it's settings more accurately.

@anithinks

Thank you for those suggestions. I think I did upgrade OOO actually, though it was after I posted tihs load order. I will check out that new Alternative Beginning mod.

LookHereYou is one of my favorite 'little mods' that I simply cannot play without. It is an OBSE mod which makes your character's head turn and 'look around' as you move your mouse in 3rd person view. It's very beautiful and makes your character much more 'alive'. I highly recommend it.

Yes, I posted 2 music compilation mods, one of original music I composed myself, another of a classical guitarist who gave me permission to distribute his music in TESnexus. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and yes, I am composing more pieces, I just haven't gotten around to adding them to my compilation.
