Sorry to bother with the same old story...CTDs & Mod Con

Greetings!

After a long absence from playing Oblivion on PC I just did a fresh install of the GOTY Edition. I created a test player character and did a rush play-trough out of the Sewers. Everything worked OK. I walked all around the IC Isle without troubles. Did a couple of fast travels and whatnot. Than I decided to start modding it.

-Installed Wrye Bash (latest), BOSS (latest) OBSE (20) the unofficial patches, Body Replacement, Rens Beauty Pack, Corea Mod, CM Partners and a partner (Sonnet). Did a couple of test runs and everything was working well.
-I went further and installed some of my "must haves" for starters... MMM, COBL and some textures (all Vibrant from Corepc). My PC is capable of running Qarls 3 or the Redemized version but I wanted to try something lighter and different.
-I also installed ALL of the Unique Landscapes releases.
-I also patched my .exe in order to make it use more ram.
-Installed OSR (latest)
-Crashing Prevention System (I know is kind of obsolete)

I fired up Wrye Bash, taking care of my load order with BOSS (withing Wrye). Created my Bashed Patch following the visual guide taking good care of merging and all that sort of neat stuff, etc. After this I decided to test again. Start Oblivion, loaded my save just after exiting the Sewers...it loads, Quest Messages start to pop-up, so far so good. I can get into the Water in front of me, but as soon as I reach the first Ayleid ruins in the other side, CTD! I load my game again, and went to the other side, to the nearest small lagoon and CTD! Load my game yet again and walk in a different direction, after few minutes, CTD.

I still have a whole bunch of mods I like to play with but don't want to do anything else until this is resolved.

I tried starting a complete "new game" and it worked all the way until I reached the Sewers exit. Now I can't exit the Sewers, as soon as I open the door and the loading screen is finished, CTD! I did noticed some odd things during my way out that I want to point out:

- For some reason, there seem to be missing the meshes and icons for the coins. The gold and platinum coin don't have an icon assigned. There are also yellow exclamation signs where the coins should be. I decided to install Better Gold but the same result.
-NPC's and creatures turn "GREEN" as soon as they get attacked or get killed. Every single one, rats, goblins, even Uriel Septim when he dies.
-I noticed that no matter what I do, if I select a Mystic Elf as race, no Ren hair is shown. All the rest of hairs are shown and available, but Rens don't. They all get "listed" and appear in the selection, but the character is hairless.

I am not familiar with BAIN yet. I just use OBMM and OMODS to install mods must of the time.

Please read the installation instructions for MMM again, you have not installed it properly.

1. Use BAIN. Work your way through this -> http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35230 if you are unsure about any aspect(s).

2. Read mod documentation and follow its instructions and advice.

3. Install only one mod (or batch of mods (e.g., the ULs)) at a time, run BOSS, rebuild the Bashed Patch if necessary, see if the game runs okay; rinse and repeat until finished installing all your mods.

4. Read and heed closely all warnings and advice given by both Wrye Bash and BOSS.

Thank you both for your tips and recommendations. I am now in the process of rebuilding my MMM omod file. Yes, it seems I did it wrong the first time.

It seems inevitable! One needs to learn BAIN. Regarding your third tip arafel, yes I agree. I always make the same mistake. Is hard for me to install one or just a very few mods at the time. I always end up installing too many at the same time without proper testing. Thank you for reminding me this golden rule.

And thank you, for being so gracious, and taking my post in the spirit that was intended. That is, advice, rather than "telling you what to do". I sometimes make the mistake of posting in that way, even though I do not mean it so, at all.
