Umbra, Goldrend, Duskfang/Dawnfang

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 2:02 am

I just found Chillrend for the first time. :celebration: But where are Umbra, Goldrend, Dusk and Dawnfang?

Personally, Duskfang Superior was my favortie weapon from Oblivion. I could understand why it isn't in the game but what about Umbra and Goldrend? They were awesome weapons and are greatly missed! :cryvaultboy:

Why did Beth not add them!?

I don't think the Daedra lord that gives you Goldbrand is in Skyrim.

What the hell is a Goldrend?

Dawn/Duskfang is in the Shivering Isles.

Umbra was destroyed.

What on Earth is Goldrend?

Also, Umbra was destroyed during the 200 years between the Oblivion Crisis and Skyrim. It's in the official books.

Also, I believe Golbrand
Spoiler
was claimed by the current Emperor Titus Mede II during or before the Great War. At least, I recall reading that somewhere.

I don't think the Daedra lord that gives you Goldbrand is in Skyrim.

I'm pretty sure Skyrim has all the daedric lords Oblivion had, but I think you get another reward from that daedric lord in Skyrim instead of Goldbrand.

Then some of the Daedra lords in Oblivion are less then memorable.

I'm pretty sure Skyrim has all the daedric lords Oblivion had, but I think you get another reward from that daedric lord in Skyrim instead of Goldbrand.

your right about goldbrand, and dusk/dawnfang is either in the shivering isles or in some collector's hall (but it was an akavi weapon, so there should be plenty outside of the isles, they just dont change with the time of day)

It's Boethia, and yes, he/she gives a different reward.

I don't seem to understand why people say that Bethesda doesn't make decisions for previous characters in other elder scroll titles in regards to story or lore. Reading that UESP on Umbra talks about what the Neravarine does AND the champion of cyrodiil at length. what if "My character never killed umbra in morrowind"? This is in regards to a question I had on what side would win, stormcloaks or imperials according to lore. people tried to make it seem like it wouldn't matter when it came down to the lore and that they wouldn't tamper with the player choice/decision but they always do. I mean, also look at Sheogorath.. he is the champion of cyrodiil. What if my character never went to the shivering isles and told Sheogorath to shut it?

OMG, why don't they have this? why don't they have that?
Hey you're like an annoying girlfriend.

Yes, because we should all be perfectly content with what Skyrim lacks in size and girth content and freedom.

Umbra was saved for DLC.

No. No it was not.

Umbra was destroyed in the Elder Scrolls book "Lord of Souls" I think, it may have been "Infernal City", I never read them.

Goldbrand is only obtainable from Boethiah, and this time around he/she gives
Spoiler
The Ebony Mail
.

Dusk/Dawnfang is still in SI. It may return it may not.

You can make your own Umbra by placing soul trap on a Ebony sword. There is no copyright lawyers in Skyrim.

I do miss my Duskfang/Dawnfang. It was a very useful way of keeping time, and killing people.

They have to do this because some people will do a given questline and some won't... its effects in later Elder Scrolls games cannot be both felt and unfelt. The "canon" is that the Champion of Cyrodiil became Sheogorath, that the Nerevarine obtained Umbra, etc. Regardless of what you specifically did in previous Elder Scrolls games, the starting point of Skyrim has to be the same. They aren't making a thousand divergent universes.

It's not like we can pretend the Oblivion Crisis never happened for those who did not finish Oblivion's main quest.
