Installing new display drivers = new activation required???

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 12:28 pm

Is this normal? I haven't had any other games require me to reactive after installing new drivers.

Mind you that it's not a new OS install, just installed Catalyst 11.8 to see performance improvements.

Did you install it on a new install of the OS?

Had a typo in post.

No it's not a new OS install, been almost 6 months now since I last formatted.

You get 5 activations when you buy. Re-installing a GFX driver shouldn't affect your activations. I re-install my GFX driver all the time and it has no effect. Even an OS re-install didn't trigger an activation for me. The only thing I've done that has cost me an activation was put a new CPU in my system. When I run the activation manager now it tells me I have 4 activations left.

So if you're gonna change any hardware/software it would probably be wise to de-authorise your machine before you do.

Someone on here was talking the other day about how he contacted EA online support to get his activations reset and said it was easy to do.

edit : Just checked mine again and it has been restored to 5 out of 5 activations - dunno how or why.
