Back stabbing a dragon

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 11:46 am

I snuck up on a dragon resting on top of a tower ( the default ones, with circular stairs ) its head was glitched into the top of the tower so it did not see me. I hit it 1 time and killed it on that hit, but it flew up circled a few times and crashed pulling up a good 30 ft of dirt and died. Im going to try it again once the dragon spawns on the tower to see if it does it again.

Worst part, I didnt even get its soul after jumping off the tower after it

I've managed to sneak pretty close to dragons before, but I'm always scared they'll see me so I just get a bow sneak attack instead of going in to attempt the x30 dagger kill. I wonder if there's a slit-the-throat animation for dragons. Haha.

Seems like the named dragon encounters are scripted so that the dragon does that crash and burn once their health falls below a certain level. I guess killing them in one shot triggers the behavior too?

Don't think that's a named dragon.

I love how dragons leave a trail of dirt when they fall and crash. I've shot many dragons out of the sky with lightning storm

It has happened to me before. I also killed one in 1 sneak attack, but it didn't die on the spot. It flew up for a few seconds, then crashed landed on the ground.

But I did get the soul. Killing a dragon in this manner does not prevent you from getting the soul.

The one that you killed just happened to be a bugged one that won't give you a soul. Meaning even if you killed that specific one in open-combat, you still won't get the soul. Try it.
