Disappointment with Vampirism?

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 4:53 pm

It took me awhile to become a Vampire and there was a lot of hard work involved. After playing through the 1st and 4th stage of Vampirism a lot, it isn't that great. I feel it's more of a chore than fun. I've always liked Vampires more than Werewolves (No, not that twilight faggotry), but it isn't like an awesome feature. You don't feel like a completely separate entity like the werewolf, you just feel like a normal guy who burns real easily and can use "powers" which you can already perform with spells.

Anything disappointed?

Vampires can do some neat things, but it IS a disease.

Its a curse which turns you into a monster, and a mediocre one at that. I love that so many people are seduced by the "legend" of vampires, only to be shunned by the sun and society.

Think of everything you have gained in character depth thou :)

Entirely agree with you.

What annoy's me most is that the skill bonus's that you get are pathetic, there are no bonus's to physical skills and the only magic skill buffed is Illusion, the powers are useful but they really should be extra things that make being a vampire interesting rather than the only point to being a vampire.

And yet again Bethesda have gone down the route of "I know lets make vampires get stronger the longer they don't feed!". They could have done a dozen different things to facilitate that balance between increased power and weaknesses whilst still making it harder to interact with people but no. They didn't use their brains and instead just went with the rubbish Oblivion system.

I'm more disappointed with how easily it's cured.

Yes, very. They didn't learn from Oblivion at all. I'm not even going to bother with it in Skyrim.

Never liked being one in Oblivion, so I won't try it in Skyrim.

Its a chore? Isn't that kind of the whole point? Its a curse. There is a trade off for the "powers" that you acquire. Its not just supposed to be an easy upgrade to your powers.

I haven't done it yet, but I've heard there's no faction/questline involved or anything like that, and other vamps still attack you on sight. If this is true then I won't bother.

Exactly. This is not a vampire the masquerade roleplay. It gives you the option to roleplay them, and in this world, vampires are monsters, whom are not overly blessed with powers more than mortals.

The problem is with player expectations of the gods they imagine or so dearly wish vampires to be, not the game.
