Is VOICE of the Emperor Overpowered?

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 7:53 am

I am level 25, playing on expert, with Legendary Ebony armor and weapons, yet I still need to use every power in my arsenal to win fights.

Recently I came to a fight I couldn't have won without this power. Basically if you are fighting a large mob of humanoids, you cast this, can heal yourself up, then start picking them off one by one.

How does voice compare to other racials?

Well argonians can hide underwater until the are healed, assuming there are no slaughterfish...

u can only use it once a day so not not really OP. Not like you can spam it like Firebolt with dual cast stagger.

The Orc power is insane. I think all racial traits are supposed to be OP, also, if you isn't exploit smithing fighting probably would be that difficult.

it's a once a day thing
not like it's a tactic you can consistently rely on in battle
unless you wait 24 hours between every one

I hardly ever use racials just because of this
besides become a werewolf and you can scare people away with your roar more than once (can only do that once a day as well though)

Redguard's Adrenaline Rush is better IMO. If you cast that you just kill everything anyway. :D

You can only use it once a day, it's fine.

Tbh the only power which comes close to being OP is the Orcs' Berserker rage.

Someday I may even remember that I have that power.

But not likely - I never remembered any of the activated racials on any of my Oblivion characters either.

It is incredibly strong, but seeing as it's once per day I wouldn't say overpowered.

I remember I tried to do the Forsworn conspiracy on my assassin at level 13 on master difficult, and I just couldn't do it...the 2 mages kept wrecking me and you can't stealth. Voice of the emperor was the only reason I could do it.

I would say in general the Orc power is the best. It adds damage on top of power attacking, and if you have enough stamina that beats the redguard power.

The Orc power may even be the best option for a 'Mage'

That being said, I don't use the racial daily powers much because...well...they are daily.

Seems like all of the racial powers are actually useful this time.

Except the Khajit one. Somebody is keeping those candles lit on a tomb only consisting of draugrs in their coffins.

Not all tombs, I've had to use it several times. Also the Khajiit power can be used multiple times a day.

I had never even bothered to try until I remembered to give it a shot when I was getting my ass kicked last night.

Pretty sweet in a pinch.

Its not as exciting has a crazy orc but it works just fine. Speak in the Imperial pimp voice and they just let you smack'em around.

Yeah, I wish it burned every enemy around him instead of it having to touch them.

The Argonian's' histskin pretty much makes them invincible for 60 seconds.
Even on master difficulty.

Now that's something.

Battlecry is better IMO, because you can hack on the enemies for a full 30 second without them fighting back, while the voice of the emperor allows for one hit and then the enemy is back on you again.

not the nords... yeah, the ability to make enemies run and aggro other enemies and make me chase them down. awesome racial :sadvaultboy: .

the frost resistance makes frost dragons easy mode though.... though i dont really consider that a "good" thing.

Use it, kill 'em while they're running, click wait for 24 hours, get some Coke and chill on the forums while it waits.

Repeat.

it's pretty good at level 1. They just need to bring back the 50% dodge buff from Morrowind.

Altmer: Highborn is essentially just free magicka potions. This is nice, but it's nothing special.
Argonian: Histskin is also just free potions. It's not impressive.
Bosmer: Command Animal provides a unique effect not normally available through spells. Unfortunately, being only usable on animals makes it worthless at higher levels, but it's pretty good for a while.
Breton: Dragonskin provides the rare spell absorption effect. It is extremely powerful, greatly dimishing the danger of difficult mage boss battles.
Dunmer: Ancestor's Wrath is just a free Fire Cloak. Normally that spell is already obsolete when you get it because the damage is so low, but dunmer get this early enough to have some use from it. It's also free once a day, so it always remains at least kind of okay.
Imperial: Voice of the Emporer is an AoE disable. Has twice the duration of Battlecry, but breaks when you attack. This makes it only useful as a panic button to save you.
Khajiit: No.
Nord: Battlecry is an amazing AoE fear effect. It only lasts half a minute, but during this time you can freely attack things without concern.
Orc: Berserk doubles weapon damage and halves damage taken. It's not as useful to a mage, but a strong orc warrior makes a great boss killer using this.
Redguard: Stamina potions do the same thing.
