Do you forget to use certain Items/powers?

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 10:30 am

I'm the type of person who picks up everything I see whether I need it or not because If I don't need it I can probably sell it. However, I just recently checked my inventory and I'm loaded with soul gems, potions, and scrolls. I keep telling myself that I'll use them but I just never get around to it. Now that I think about it its the same way with my shouts and racial abilities. I know its there and most likely its useful but I just never use it for some reason. Anybody else have this problem?

It happened all the time to me. There's so much to this game.

My house in Whiterun is stuffed with hundreds of potions, gems, alchemy ingredients, books, notes, high-end weapons, one set of each type of armor, and every enchanted piece of equipment I ever found.

Plus, in the process of leveling Pickpocketing to 100, I've stolen so many gems and jewelery that I made a plan to drop them all, individually, into a pile in one of my future houses in the game. It'll look like a giant gold and jewel vault to rival Scrooge McDuck's. It's gonna be AWESOME! (and fps-murdering, probably) :chaos:

I have potions for every possible situation, they take up half of my inventory. I never use them. Same with scrolls. And charcoal, for some reason I have to pick up every charcoal I come across, even though they're useless.

I'm a book hoarder. So I wet myself when got a house with good bookstorage.

I'm pretty good at keeping my gear to a minimum. Bow, 2x daggers, sword, armor set. Potion-wise it's just health potions. Everything else I grab and sell.

When it comes to shouts I think i only use two of them.

I am very bad at actually using consumables. I'm plagued by the "what if I need this later" bug. I've begun to force myself to try and use potions and such more in video games like this.

I have finished so many role playing games with an inventory stocked full of consumable items being "saved for later".

I never used potions in Daggerfall. I guess I just never thought of it. If I did the battles wouldve been much, much easier

I use potions now though

Yeah, i have inventory full of potions, scrolls and weapons that i have for very specific circumstances, but i always forget to use them in those situations (if they ever even emerge) and just brute force my way trough them. So much wasted inventory space :shakehead:

I honestly think TES games give you to much potions to be used for your own good. There needs to be an auto potion use feature or something like there is in DA: Origins.

Ditto. Just like in Oblivion, I've got potions for every occasion and scrolls that really sound like they'd be awesome in the right circumstances. And all I ever remember to use is Healing potions. (Once in a blue moon, I'll toss on a poison or a buff, too. But that's only when I've already gone to the healing potions, so I'm in the interface already.)

And then there's the vast amount of backup stuff in the house. ("I bet I could enchant these later, when my skill's high enough!" ...and it's still not high enough. At lv51.)

edit: oh, another thing just like in Oblivion - I never remember that I've got an active racial power. Good thing I picked my race for looks, not the powers.

Same. At one point I dropped all barely used weapons/armor trying to figure out what the hell I was carrying. Comes to find out I had a insane quantity of potions I wasn't using. Now the only thing I pick up are healing and stamina potions, and only now am I even beginning to actually use the stamina potions.
