Werewolves underpowered

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 7:39 am

My main char is a werewolf and lvl 41. I'm not sure if it's since installing the patches (360) or just because i've leveled up, but transforming into my werewolf form now is simply no longer an option. The fact that they can't regenerate health in combat and the fact that they are extremely weak to arrows, ~3 shots to kill (ridiculously easy to get hit 3 times against multiple targets) means that now if i'm ever exploring a fort etc i never have the option to turn into a werewolf - so what's the point?? Anyone else find this? know if it's a level thing or a patch thing? because i never had these problems at the start of the game. Either way i can't play in werewolf form at the moment for 90% of combat situations (The remaining 10% is against wild animals).

I think you're supposed to eat people you've killed to get health back. Either way, when Lycanthropy is reduced to a lesser power in a scaled game world, you can't really expect it to make much of an impact.

Yeah, in Morrowind Werewolves were rather Over-powered with super strength and speed and the ability to pretty much clear trees in a single leap at higher levels. However I don't really like this whole Timer system in Skyrim, it use to be you were forced to Transform at 8/9pm and then rampage or run away and sleep it off in a Barrow until morning.

I like that you aren't forced to change but I do think they need to be powered up a bit and extended.

I sort of like the timer system. Use it or lose it. Keep up the frenzy or you lose it. Kind of intensifies the situation of rage. Hurry, Find, Kill, Consume.... werewolf style. I do miss the athletic prowess of werewolves in bloodmoon though. That was so fun.

i know that's how you get health back, but you can't do it in combat as whilst you're eating, you will be attacked and killed during the animation. I don't want it to "make an impact", I just want it to be a viable option. I'm not asking to be loads MORE powerful than i am normally i just want to be equally powerful at least.

Right now my werewolf form's combat capabilities in terms of both damage and durability are pathetic compared to my normal form and can't even match groups of enemies. In short, I just want to be able to play as a werewolf.

Am i supposed to crank the difficulty all the way down before transforming and then back up again afterwards?? that's horribly immersion-breaking.

Edit: whilst we're on the subject of werewolves being overpowered, kostresa mentions missing their athletic prowess, i also dislike the fact that they still take significant fall damage (possibly equal to normal chars) where it would be nice to jump off high things (and up) as a werewolf

Werewolves and vampires could have been improved and fleshed out a ton. Hopefully mods will do that for us PC players.
