Can't change MP nickname : "contains invalid characters"

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 6:07 pm

Hello,

I am trying to change my nickname on gamesas (I understand this is how you change your in-game name for PC multiplayer) and I get an error message:

It says that my nickname "'contains invalid characters" even though it only contains a-z letters in both upper- and lower-case.

Does anyone know how to go around this problem?

Many thanks,

A screenshoot would be nice :P Have you tried any other nickname, because the problem is maybe caused by the name...

Try adding a one-digit number and/or nót using Caps. It took me some time to create an account caused by the same error-message.

It will also give that message if the name is in use, as I recall.

Thank you for your answers.

I've just tried with and without upper-case letters, added numbers at the end of my new name, it still doesn't work. In fact, even if I type my current nickname (BenGuilbaud) in the text field, it still says 'invalid characters'.

OK, CH4NCE, I hadn't read your reply, and I think you were right. The nicknames I entered were probably all in use already.

I tried yet another one and this time there was joy.

Problem sorted, thanks everybody.
