Is this cheating or just exploiting?

Okay, so during the Alduin's Wall quest you have to take Delphine and Esbern to Sky Haven Temple. But I didn't necessarily do that. Actually, that was awhile ago, and I just never went there. Instead, I have kept Delphine and Esbern (with Lydia) as we trekked through all the quests in the Companions and the College of Winterhold. SO basically I have this team of a mage (Esbern), a warrior (Delphine), an archer (Lydia) and a mixture of all three (me) going through dungeons kicking butt at every corner. But is this cheating? Is this exploitation? Or is this just a clever way of using the game?

Yeah, I'm getting a dog soon. Just waiting to get a house first so I'll have the perfect package.

I did the same thing on another character and it was great fun.

Kinda' felt epic LoTR style to have a full party running with me. And you can always 'park' them by asking them to wait if you want to go solo for a while.

I did this for a while as well, with a dog too. Twas fun while it lasted, but they just decided to meet me there at one point and left, and so ended the trek of Team Dragonborn. :sadvaultboy:

You should've added Barbas to the mix, heh.

You could do this in Fallout, but Sticky doesn't exactly compare to Delphine and Esbern.

I dislike that dog. Keeps pushing me at the worst times. Casting spell....WOOPS missed and blew up Lydia. Enjoying scenery...WOOPS pushed me off a cliff. <_<

I did this, but with the skeleton key, trying to get my lockpicking to 100 before I return it.

I did that with just Farkas. On the companion quest with him, we stopped by every other dungeon I had a quest for and he rocked. I think he might have been essential? Because he faced down a dragon and took a real beating before I could catch up and kill the monster.

I just got that quest (Alduin's Wall) for the first time yesterday and told them to go ahead. Damn, wish I had thought of what you did!!!!

I've got a similar story of the journey:

I decided to walk with Esbern and Delphine to Sky Haven. We're walking through Skyrim, I see ALDUIN himself resurrecting a dragon off in the distance. I panic and run off to investigate. We took down the dragon, and continue on our journey. For some reason, Esbern and Delphine decide to meet me there. I just follow them instead. There was a glitch and they kept turning around in one spot over and over again. I decided to just continue on with Lydia. I'm almost there, and a Blood Dragon attacks. I'm thinking "Uh oh, does Alduin know about the temple?" as I attack the dragon. I kill it and continue on. Then I discover the Forsworn camp near the entrance. I take down most of them, but then the Briarheart attacked. I had already used the Dragonskin power that day, so I can't absorb it's magic attacks. I was almost out of magicka and health potions, I'm about to die, Esbern and Delphine appear out of nowhere and save me by killing the Briarheart.
