Computer crashed, lost all nano modules

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 10:35 pm

I beat the game once and was playing it again with the DX 11 update. I had all the nano modules except one of them. My computer crashed and now I have no nano modules. Anyone know how to get it back.

On reboot, I also noticed I had to retype in my log in and CD key.

windows 7 64bit
nvidia 460gtx
patch 1.9 and dx11 and high res updates installed

In single player? Funnily enough I had a similar experience, I was playing SP one day and my game crashed only to find out that my default profile corrupted. I remade a default profile but it happened again, any profile that isn't named default is OK.

If you look in C:\Users\\Saved Games\Crysis2\SaveGames you will notice that the save file naming scheme uses the SP profile name, as in:

default_00_BatteryPark_630.CSF
default_00_BatteryPark_630.meta
myprofile_01_AlienVessel_1674.CSF
myprofile_01_AlienVessel_1674.meta

There would also be folders in ..\Saved Games\Crysis2\profiles called "default" and "myprofile" in this example. If your folder named "myprofile" is gone, recreating a profile of the same name in-game will make your saved games available again. Your modules and other stuff was in the profiles folder that you lost, however. Copying the contents of one profile folder to another will work, giving the "stuff" of one to the other, without any apparent ill-effect. You could, in theory, play a new SP game using maxed out modules, etc by starting a new SP profile/game and copying the contents of another ..\Saved Games\Crysis2\profiles folder to it.

Please BACKUP your Saved Games\Crysis2 folder before messing with any of this! Note that the SP profiles significantly affect the MP experience, lol. Also, beyond verifying that it works and minimal testing (played to the next checkpoint then restarted -- it worked), I dont know what bugs may lie ahead. Good luck.

Yes. The game is fond of trashing profiles. Its really fast to make a copy of the Saved Games\Crysis2\profiles folder... and much faster to recover in case of "accident".

The first time I played it, I had to live with the godforsaken nano catlyst bug where you lose nano catalyst everytime you quit and restarted. Now, I've completely lost all of my modules...as if I never played the game. This is becoming unbearable now. This isn't aceptable!!!

You can still see your saved games because the profile folder itself is still there. The re-typing of the login also implies that your profile files are the issue:

If you could get back your singleplayer profile from before the crash you should be golden. Although that thread was ultimately about a different glitch, Blutar666's idea here might help:
For me, restoring like mentioned before would work. Are you able to do this too? When I am right clicking my profiles folder i am getting this:

So I could even restore a version of the whole folder from the 9th of july.
So, you would right-click on C:\Users\<username>\Saved Games\Crysis2\profiles, select "Restore previous versions" and try to restore the most recent version from before the crash.
