Date changes at the wrong time?

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 7:08 pm

So I'm working on a quest, no spoilers but it's an assassination and being such is time sensitive, so for the first time I was paying attention to what the date did as I waited/slept.

Is it just me, or does the date change at the wrong time? I'm seeing the day change (e.g. Mondas to Tirdas) at 1PM, instead of at 12PM. It should be really easy to check, just wait for 24hrs and watch what the date does.

It's very weird, and it seems to be screwing up the AI of my assassination target. He's clearly got a script which says go here in the morning, then go here in the evening, next morning new town etc but because "Monday evening" effectively comes before Monday morning each week he is getting very screwed up.

Can someone else confirm this please? (Or tell me I'm crazy?)

I can't be the only one that's noticed this. The date ticks over at noon instead of midnight, which is going to potentially break all sorts of things in quest scripts. Can someone else please confirm this?

OP: are you sure you're seeing PM and not AM when it's "noon?"

Personally, I haven't noticed. I never look at the day of the week or even the month. Mostly because, even in all these years of playing Elder Scrolls, I still have not figured out what the hell the names of the days and months are in real world terms. XD

Besides, AFAIK, there aren't any time sensitive quests. Guy tells me, "Be here at 6am tomorrow morning. Don't be late!" but everything is normal when I show up 3 months later, as if no time had passed at all.

12PM is noon. The AM/PM switch happens at the 12, not the 1. Could this be related to your confusion? Or totally separate?

Edit: At least for our clock. I don't know how they do it in the game.

OK I thought I noticed this at some point while playing, but I chalked it up to me being confused.

I just checked now, and indeed the day appears to have changed at 11PM, and not at midnight.

Edit: Just tried again, and day changed at 1AM, not at midnight. I'm guessing this has to do with how "Wait" is programmed, because I think time works normally if you don't wait.

If you've disabled iPresentInterval you've probably messed up the in-game clock. Here's how to fix it:

Also how to fix it for people that never touched the setting, too.

I have the issue on Xbox... Or at least I think it's on my Xbox, I may be getting it mixed up with my PC version.

I am so glad I didn't turn out to be completely insane and imagining this.

Unfortunately this is a major bug and it seems to be subtle but widespread.

Frankly it will break the dark brotherhood questline, quite definitely, other quests i dunno.
