Can't get into Skyrim

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 11:44 pm

Understand what you are saying. I am at the point where I don't even feel like opening the game. Was hoping the CK would have been released this week but that isn't happening until sometime next month. This isnt a TES game anymore. Its that simple.

Sorry you feel that way. IMO Skyrim is better than oblvion in every way shape or form and is possibly the best RPG ever made. I'm the complete opposite of disappointed, i'm very impressed. Great game, it's different than oblivion but definitely for the better.

No. Simply just no unless the only RPG you ever played is Skyrim. It isnt even a RPG, its the new action rpg games, aka dragon age 2. To say it is the best ever mad ( and frankly i can't believe some people are saying this lately ) its just dumb.

I think your understanding of the word "fact" is a bit skewed.

Anyway, as for the OP's points...

Enemies not following you into loadzones is one of my complaints as well, but I don't remember enemies following you into cities in Oblivion either.

Oh really? Perhaps you can tell me how Oblivion is better than Skyrim?

how in hell can you say its better than Oblivion! Oblivion was Morrowind except a few shortages which was a fresh and new experience. Skyrim feels like a 1st release that should have gone to Oblivion then Morrowind regarding roleplayability. I dont get why people werent impressed with Oblivion? I think it has a better story unlike being a dragonborn that always sounds like a bloke no matter what your race and realistically would the dragonborn be any race but a nord? I cant get my head around that.

I am not saying it is better. I am saying that in your previous statement,"Fact: Skyrim is better than vanilla Oblivion." You used the word fact wrong, that is actually an opinion. ;)

I wanted to play this game so much when I got hold of it. I've played a total of ten hours or so and I'm disappointed, there's very little which makes me go "WOW" like Oblivion did. It feels different, the world is not as alive and the voice actors are average at best. Stop recycling the voice actors from Thief please.

-The world is -WAY- more alive than Oblivion ever dreamed of being. And recycled voice actors? Really? You do realize that there were about 2 voice actors spread out over about 6 different races in Oblivion, right? Nords, Orcs, and Khajiit all had the same voice actors, and Wood Elves, Dark Elves, and Imperials all had the same voice actor. Talk about recycled.

Who's idea was it to get rid of the Athletics skill? Ridiculous. It was one of the main reasons to go exploring and climb up mountains. Now there's really little need to bother and it makes the player less interested on exploring.

-Little need to bother exploring? Well I suppose if dungeons, random encounters, hidden quests, word walls, standing stones, and just a beautiful world in general aren't reasons to explore, then you're right, there isn't any reason to explore other than Athletics.

Yeah there's LOTS of quests. But who cares if they're all mindless, boring and recycled rubbish we've seen a million times before? Less quests and more substance would have been the right way to go.

-Pound for pound, Skyrim quests are individually the best quests in the Elder Scrolls series. Individually, I had way more fun in the College of Winterhold, exploring the ruins of Saarthaal and uncovering the mystery of the Eye of Magus than I did in Oblivion, helping a lost mage out of the zombie cave. Where Skyrim suffers is short overall questlines, but individual quests, Skyrim wins, hands down.

Why don't enemies follow you outside load zones as much? I lost count the amount of times I was getting owned by three enemies, and left the building, to find they didn't follow. When I go back into the area seconds later the enemies are unaware of my presence again and with the same amount of health. WHAT A JOKE! I used to like nothing more than getting enemies to follow me into the city so they could get owned by guads and I could loot the place. No longer do I feel unsafe but now we have loading zones protecting us. Brilliant!

-Okay, I guess that's totally gamebreaking...

Levelling. I took out a tough NPC early on in the game with 37 damage, but no matter what quests I do I can find nothing anywhere near as powerful. I mean come on! No point in exploring anymore.

-You can up the difficulty, you realize this right?

Bethesda you have disappointed me for the first time. I hope you fix these issues or I'll be returning my game

-OH NOEZ!!!

10 hours? It sounds like you haven't done enough. There is so much more "WOW" stuff in this game then there was in Oblivion... but okay.

It's "just dumb" to think your own opinion is the only one that matters. Skyrim is an RPG.

Told you folks, now that TES IV is a thing of the past, old gentelmen will whine its awesomeness, and It'll be the new nostalgia'ed game. Can't wait till TES VI comes out, so that Skyrim starts being a good game.

IMO, nostalgia aside, Skyrim = Morrowind > Oblivion, although modding turned TES IV into an awesomeness machine. Let's hope that modders keep being that awesome.

Yup, pretty much.

For me, it's Skyrim >/= Morrowind > Oblivion > Fallout 3 > every other game in existence.

But yea, it's the hipster effect. Morrowind is a great game, it really is, and that's -not- nostalgia, but what is nostalgia is talking about how amazing Morrowind was, but making actual false claims about what it was that Morrowind actually did.

The only thing that I disliked was the short questlines. The background story for them was GREAT, but it wasn't fully explored because the questlines where awfully short. Specially the College of Winterhold with the Psjiic Order and The Great Collapse.

You have to say the secret password "morrowind is the best game ever" in these forums to make people care.

I played through the entirety of Oblivion without ever dying once as a pure mage. That has not been the case with Skyrim. This makes me happy.

After 35 hours and at lvl21 I will say, that Skyrim feels much better than Oblivion (I'm not yet ready to rate is a high as Morrowind yet).
My guess is that at 10 hours you haven't played enough of the game too see the truely wow-places. The really interesting places are in the icy mountains, where especially the dwemer ruin are spectacular and the dungeons are much better than the caves near Whiterun.

It can feel like there is too much snow in the game though. I have come to appreciate enchanting, spellmaking, smithing, alchemy, the perkts etc, and the only thing that annoys me are the clumsy inventory control.

I never cared a lot about athletics, so the absence of that don't bother me.
