OBMM's Archive Invalidation

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 1:00 am

As far as I'm aware, whenever a new texture replacer is installed, you need to run the Archive Invalidation utility. But NPC Face Color Unlocker also looks better without running that utility. Odd colors start popping up on faces if you run it. So for now, I just installed NPC Face Color Unlocker last, after running the Archive Invalidation for all the other texture replacers I'm using.

But if I want to install some more texture mods in the future, is there a way to have the Archive Invalidation ignore the files from NPC Face Color Unlocker? Would I have to reinstall that mod again afterwards? Or do I just not need to run Archive Invalidation again after the first time? I'm a little confused about this scenario... :S

err - each time?

What archive Invalidation needs it every time?

Both the BSA redirection with OBMM and Archive Invalidation Invalidated are a set one time thing (add a BSA to the Oblivion.ini). Once they are set and active then all the loose files gain priority over the BSA files.

If you put face unlocker files in a BSA - such as unpack the vanilla and overwrite and repack then again the loose files would win.

Having two sets of conflicting files in two different BSA can cause randomness and some have reported crashing.

Ah-ha! Thanks! So I don't need to worry about that utility anymore. I clearly just didn't understand how it worked :P

Thanks for the quick response!
