No. I have no interest in it in real life and no interest in it in my gaming life.

this

pointless addition to the game. People complain about hacking computers and lockpicking, then go all "oooooo" when they put a slot machine in there. I realise a gambling casino needs.. gambling... but to hype it up to the extent they did (almost all the preview videos for vegas had the devs showing you "working slot machines!". wow.)

Theres a diffrence between forcing mini games and making them optional.(one of the things I wish they put in since oblivion was being able to have on and off options of having the hacking and lockpick minigames)

Though I do agree during demonstrations of the game it was perhaps alittle to much of a highlight for minigames

Just cashed in 41,400 chips at The Tops. The best part is I'm knocking off these casinos looking like a total Freeside street bum wearing a Brahmin-Skin Outfit and a Roving Trader Hat.....lol :celebration:

You don't really need to learn Black Jack to play it in NV, you only need decent luck stat.
As soon as you get to 7 or above the odds start to be in your favor.
Regarding Roulette I'm not sure, but Black Jack is a license for printing money once you get high luck.

As for caravan, I never understood the rules as presented in game, but you can find better manuals online.
However it seems that they probably screwed it up a bit after the last patch?

Caravan is very easy just try get as close as you can to 26 in each section without going over and thats it .I recommend using 7's 8's 9's 10's and kings and maybe one jack.

I play some blackjack until I'm a couple thousand caps from the limit that will get me banned from the casino. Then I hit the slots. At The Tops I played blackjack until I had 8,400 caps in winnings, then I went to the slots and after a bit managed to hit three oranges for an additional 32,000 caps.

Yeah, I'll play blackjack when i'm bored.
Plus to get banned from all the casinos, I made a luck 10 character and did that. Meh.

That's the way you do it. Money for nothing; drinks for free.

I can't figure out how Caravan works.

As for other types of gambling, I've dabbled in it, but there's no real motivation to do so. It'd be different if there was say, a really powerful, high-end piece of armour or a weapon that you could only buy with thousands of caps, which would lead me to actually try it out more often.

Think about the Game Corner in the original Pokemon games (yes, I went there). You could only get Porygon with thousands of points, but it gave me the motivation to try! What can I get in New Vegas with my hard-earned money? Nothing.

I think the Luck skill for gambling is complete bologna, I shouldn't need Luck to be able to gamble, low luck characters can't gamble at all. Then again, it adds a purpose for luck.

I play BlackJack a lot, every time I win, I save. Whenever I lose, I reload my save lol

I'd hardly call it gambling. More like a Luck challenge, which screws you over should you have under 5 Luck, or is your damn blessing if you have over 7 or more.

you can't make a game in vegas without gambling. i would have rather seen poker instead of roulette though. caravan is good to get some free supplies from merchants and a trophy. 30 seems like a lot of games, but it isn't. find ringo at crimson caravan after setting up a 'no lose' deck, and it takes about 30-60 seconds to win a hand. oh, and caravan is a very simple game. i worry about people who can't spend five minutes to learn something new.

blackjack you can win consistently with a luck of 6 (it just takes a lot longer...took me about 45 min to break the wrangler). don't like roulette so i don't play that. slots are all about your luck stat. after breaking the wrangler and the strip casinos, you have enough for all your implants. that's my main use of gambling and the casinos...free implants.

the casino games that are included are primarily luck driven games. while blackjack has some strategic elements, it's mostly luck that determines your cards. it seems these games were chosen intentionally to give some extra value to the luck stat.

i don't get all the bashing of gambling and caravan. there are no missions forcing you to gamble or play caravan. don't like it? don't play it. but if you have a game in vegas (or like fo2, reno) you simply must have gambling. and with the massive amount of content, it's not like they left anything out to put some gambling games in.

Once you break all 5 casino's (6 with DM) Gambling doesn't really play much of a part in NV. Sure there is Caravan, for AGES I had no idea how it worked but once you know, it's not reallly gambling. It's just taking NPC's money. There should be more than 4 types of gambling tbh.

Fallout poker would have been kinda cool. More than likely would have been texas hold'em, but still would have been a nice little distraction.

Caravan is actually quite simple once you learn the rules.

It's the only 'gambling' game that I'll play in FNV, as I find slots, and the other gambling devices utterly boring in the game, I at least like to think a bit about the game that i'm playing.

I love Caravan and BlackJack. I really wish there'd be more Caravan in the game, I believe you can only play for about five rounds with each NPC. The devs also really should add poker. Come on, Vegas without poker? =(
