Fallout Collection ( FO1, FO2, FO Tact)

Post » Wed Oct 21, 2009 5:35 pm

Fallout 3 has been my first fallout game. However I want to try the others, mostly 1 and 2, but I'm afraid y computer is vista. If i buy the game, either used, new, or download it somewhere. Is it going to be possible for me to install it in my Vista 64bit computer ? Thank you in advance.

It should be possible. I don't know exactly how it works, but there are a few patches and mods out there that should make everything work on Vista. You can find them at NMA.

Fallout 1 will probably require the http://dosbox.com/. Fallout 2 and Tactics should work fine.

If you buy the Fallout Collection that contains all 3 thats around now (I got it at Game last week for ?7.50) it should run fine on XP or Vista. It runs fine for me on XP and according to the system requirements listed should run fine on Vista

They should run just fine, at least they work on my Vista machine, but I'm running 32-bit at the moment, so I don't know for sure if 64-bit would mess it up. I wouldn't think so, though.

The most common bug you're likely to run into is occasionally when loading up the game the colors will get all messed. The easy fix for that is to alt-tab out of the game and then back into it, which usually fixes the problem.

You'll probably have to go into the "run as administrator" or compatibility and "run as 98" or something, but yeah it should work. I suggest going to NMA and asking in the Fallout Gameplay and Tech Help forum for more detailed responses. I've only got Vista on my laptop and forgot what happened when I tried it.

I'm running FO1 & 2 from gog.com and they run just fine, even on Vista 64-bit.

You don't need a DOS emulator to run fallout 1, LOL. It came out in like 1997 if i recall, so windows 95 compatibility should work. Like any retro gaming, try researching solutions with google first rather then just getting others to do the work for you. =]

BTW, i just started fallout 1 on my Vista machine 64x with no problems last night. However, I did have trouble installing tactics awhile back.

Runs fine for me - I think I had to do the "run as administrator" thing, but it works just fine.

If you have trouble, you can buy the www.gog.com version of Fallout 1,2 & Tatics for $5.99 each that has been fixed so it runs on XP/Vista.

I have that collection (GSP White Label, right?) and all the games ran just dandy on Windows XP Pro with no complications, though the unofficial patches are still recommended.

Setting them to run in a lower color mode in the compatibility options prevents this altogether
