Good Warhammers?

If you find a Glass Warhammer... KEEP IT!!! When I got one at level 15 Blunt... It had a damage count of ten!!! Of course... it weighs a lot! (72 pounds) but it is an awesome weapon! So... to recap KEEP 1 WHEN / IF YOU FIND ONE!!!

YOu always could, its armor/clothes/jewelry that can only have one enchant.

I've learned something new today, for real. I've been playing this game for years.

Just a personal opinion on warhammers. They weigh too much compared to the damage they do, a dagger can do more if one is more skilled with those. Objectively that′s not how it′s supposed to be, regardless of one′s training :shakehead:

Best warhammers you'll find at level 2 are silver and amber. As mentioned, one (silver) can be found by a drunk, dead goblin in Toadstool Hallow cave along the road south of Bruma and another can be found on a bloody table in the back of Castle Leyawiin's secret torture chamber. If you have Shivering Isles, try to find some amber and bring it to the orc smith in Bliss (New Sheoth). It'll be leveled, but he can make you an amber warhammer. IMO though it doesn't look overly "badass" http://images.uesp.net//d/df/Amberweapons.jpg Absolute best one in the game though, IMO, http://images.uesp.net//9/9c/Nerveshatter.png found in the Shivering Isles. Best when you're at level 30.
There are two unbelievably sweet war hammers in the Shivering Isles. I tell you man, sweet. They will be the best quality at level 30, iirc. Both are found during the main quest there. One guaranteed for sure, the other, when you enter a particular room, the game checks whether your blade or blunt skill is higher, and the weapon you receive will be either a hammer or a claymore.

Really? Mine always turn into a battle axe or claymore. I've never had it be warhammer.

Siglil stones are also nice to enchant with, probably better with large weapons as main benefit of self enchanted it magic damage +weakness and it works best for fast weapons.

Main benefit is that you have much more charge, typical 80 hits before empty, far more than a decent self enchanted one.
Yes both require a capture soul spell and soulgems or better azura's star.

i had a similar impression, specially considering speed and sneaking damage for one-hand blades.

The problem I have with Oblivion weapons is that they seem to be made to match each other regarding damage, and what weapon you choose is merely esthetical.
That′s just so wrong. When fighting someone in armor, a dagger should never have the chance of matching the damage from a warhammer even if one is a dagger master! I have no final solution for this, I just don′t approve of how they did this

right - a Daedric Warhammer does 28 dmg and u can 'power attack' for 2,5x ?
A daedric dagger does 19 and Sneak does x6?

N.o.p.e.

Actually dagger sneak attack bonus is not that unrealistic as you could target gaps in the armor. However missing this you would only do blunt damage not slash. Now blunt weapons would be better at doing blunt damage.
Had been better if they had some sort of damage threshold not only damage reduction, let blunt and axes do less damage but ignore/ reduce damage threshold. Now they would be better against armored enemies but a blade would be better against large enemies with loads of health.

I agree but I′m talking about open combat. A dagger hitting armor is really not that effective

sorry for hijacking this, but ... what about h2h x a daedric set of armour & shield?

hammer-wise, i was disappointed at volendrung. it has a very cool name, yet i remember from my Arena daze it disappeared too fast (i was used to ebony blade which did not use its greater power on strike). PLUS... it did not hit Liches and Fire Daemons I think....
