Vampire Mod

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 1:32 pm

Hello all. I am looking for a Vampire mod that adds a good amount of power and benefit to becoming a child of the night, also with a bit of balance(being able to go out in the sun, but being weakened.. maybe a weakness to silver weapons and fire).. Also the ability to move really fast, much faster than the non vampire npcs, and jump great distances or really high. I'm also looking for a mod that adds clans and quests and other vampires to socialize with.. Clans, and clan specific quests and rewards.. Vampire armor, or weapons etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.. Also looking for the same for werewolves.. thanks :)

I think what you'll find is that there are many mods that provide some of what you want, but none have everything you want.

The closest thing to vampire clan quests is Nekhanimal's mod, it has a couple clans and minor quests you can do. LTD's has some quests, but it's not really a clan, and to find them you have track down the vampire that turned you. StarX's adds a couple clans, but the only quest is to join them. You do get access to a nice collection of vampire armor though. StarX isn't a vampire overhaul, so it's generally compatible with the other vampire mods.

I like LTD's approach to vampire weakness in that by default there is no sun damage, but it hurts your attributes a bit, I think it's around -15 for most of them. Makes some unique gameplay in that if you go adventuring during the day, you'll come out of the cave encumbered because you lose strength as you go out into the light. So you either drop some stuff, or wait in the cave until nightfall.

Otherwise, most of the mods do have sun damage, but I've found that it's not too hard to make changes in the construction set to how you want them to be. Just add a fire weakness or increase the fire weakness to where you think it's appropriate. I"m not sure, but I believe that silver weapons ignore normal weapon resistance, so just give yourself resistance, and you have a weakness, or at least a non strength against silver. You can also delete the sun damage if you don't want it.

I've never used a werewolf mod, so I dunno.

BIE - A Vampire Overhaul adds new features to being a vampire to make it more interesting but nothing beyond that.

the only other mod i would recomend is a bit of a "black sheep" mod because of how it started ( the author charged for voice files, but upon zenimax's request stopped charging and now the full mod is free). Its called Unholy Darkness though it can only be found http://www.4drulers.com/unholydarkness/

Not sure about any of the other but UD adds some nice features and makes being a vampire quite fun but tbh going from personal experience I'd recommend against it as ut did give me some problems and even though I'm no longer using it it still giving me problems as I'm unable to remove it from my mod list as my saves will refuse to load without it active so it's completely stitched me up...also there was a charge for the voice files but I think they are free now but now apparently you have to pay for help instead should you need any from the author...sorry but overall it's a big thumbs down

I'm actually not sure we're allowed to talk about that mod. You can try if you like. At first it seemed impressive and well done, but aging system takes too long, take a full year to get all of your powers. I don't think I've ever played a character for a full year. The quest is short, and the end is terrible, "hope you liked my mod, go to my website and give me money, hurr durr". That kind of ruined it for me.

Basically with vampire mods it comes down to LTD's, Nekhanimals', Scorn's, or BIE if you're feeling adventurous. Pick the one that has the most that you want, it won't be perfect, and make any minor changes in the CS if you need to. There are some lesser known ones, but are unsupported/still have bugs. I remember liking CDM's vampire experience mod, it was fantastic with how customizeable it was with the provided ini. It just still has a couple bugs ruining it for me, and I don't think CDM is still around.

I dont see why we wouldnt be able to talk about it anymore, as i said zeni and MM resolved the issue, but if im wrong im sure a mod will let me know . i didnt know about the charge for help thing, ive been asking a few questions here and there on the site and have been helped. but i must say i agree about the story, it was a bit of a wtf? moment at the end, and some of the voice acting is a bit over dramatic. but the morphing and abilities are pretty solid.

It's a shame you didn't mention StarX's Vanilla Vampires Revised. I've never played it myself, but its always a shame not to mention anything StarX makes.

...Did you read my first post? I did mention StarX's mod. I didn't use the full title, but usually just knowing the author's name is unique enough to find it on a nexus search. It's a good mod, I just can't group it in with the rest of the mods as it isn't really an overhaul, it doesn't change how being a vampire works. Which is good actually, it is a great supplement to your overhaul of choice, it shouldn't have any issue integrating with any of the overhaul mods.

It has two quests, one for joining a vampire clan, and one for joining the vampire hunters. Both come with extra abilities/spells, though it's nothing too exciting. The main work is in redecorating vampire dungeons, makes them seem more vampire-like. I was using LTD's at the time, so I don't know if there was indeed a conflict, but I did find some issue with hostile vampires that shouldn't have been. I was joining the clan, and half of the vampires in the room wanted to kill me. I used the console kill command and the clan leader had no problem welcoming me. The other cool part is that the mod includes access to a bunch of cool vampire armors, so that's certainly worth checking out.

The thread isn't very long so far, this is 8th post. Try to read what's been said before passing shame on me...
